So, after trying to get dig here at the age of 6, I have finally arrived in China (courtesy of China Air). During a quiet dinner this evening, I strayed from the typical Chinese fare and enjoyed some sushi against my daughter's warning that if I eat raw fish eggs, they then will hatch into fish in my "testicles". In any case, during my dinner, I was thinking about the fact that there are 1.99 Billion Chinese people riding bicycles, yet there are no pro-Chinese cyclists....so, just when do you think that the Chinese will figure out that cycling can be so much more than a form of transportation and that it may some day rival badminton and PingPong as a sport...that riding down the Alpe du Huez without brakes may in fact be much safer than commuting on bikes through the city of Beijing! So, what is your over/under on how long it is before we see a Chinese Cyclist turning pro?
PS: very heartwarming to be able to read your blog while in the Chinese version of "Lost in Translation". If I close my eyes after reading, I can picture you all in one room, bantering about! Makes me feel close to home...thanks. And, please tell Steve to keep riding..I'm glad Petey's new subject of "man-love" to quote my husband (Tom Boonen), doesn't turn to Steve using your microsoft translation package and say.."common man, what are you doing here!...". Okay, I have too much time on my hands here! I'm off...good night!
