MSR: Time For Plan B

In a thread below, Anthony from Cycling.tv confirms that they don't have the rights to show Milan-San Remo live. For whatever reason, their working relationship with either RCS or Versus doesn't seem to be clicking.

This is bad news, of course, but hopefully all is not lost. As Koppenberg has been pointing out, CyclingFans.com have been rounding up their ideas about live coverage, and others here have also offered helpful ideas... like RAI International for you Dish Network subscribers.

This is an open thread to either rage at the darkness (don't be mean!) or to offer other suggestions and plans. Obviously we will still be here live tomorrow, with whatever tools are available.

We'll figure it out
We always do - when was the last time we missed a race?

I think I may join things later on in the race, going to try and sneak in an early ride while wife and daughter are still in the rack.

I've been talked into doing a road race (gasp)
tomorrow morning... so  I'll be out there breathing hard.  I look forward to reading the recap... PC will be my first stop when I return (with beer in hand).  Have fun all.

same here... probably
If the weather is reasonable I'll be out there for my first race of this season. It makes for a great day to get out and race, then come home and watch some awesome euro-action.

[suppressing envy]
Not that I want to miss MSR... and not that I'd have to since it starts at 5am-ish. But I rode my racer in to work today since my commuter had a flat I don't feel like dealing with til the weekend. Riding the Litespeed for the first time in a while is like falling in love all over again. Can't wait for '08.

As an FYI, RAI-I is also available on cable
I added RAI-I as an extra to my comcast cable.

If only I lived in Seattle...
...I could add RAI-I to Comcast. Alas, those of us down the highway in Portland don't have that option. Drat.

On DirecTV
I can't get RAI, but I can get JadeWorld: a package of 25 channels for Chinese people. I don't begrudge the Chinese, who got here long before me, but would it kill them to add RAI?

Them
meaning DirecTV, not the Chinese.

The live ticker begins at 10:00 CET, whatever time that is here (anybody know?).

I've had luck watching eurosport with the firefox/mediaplayerconnectivity extension combination.  Could just be me, but it usually won't play inside my browser.

Well, I've officially given up on Cycling.tv
every getting their Versus mess figured out, having already let us down twice thus far, and I've just subscribed to RAI on Dishnetwork.

Damn
Last year the Dish dumped OLN... and I dumped the Dish for DirecTV. I suspect they've reinserted Versus by now, just to make my choice complete folly. Of course, my bill went down 30 percent, but that's another matter.

heh, funny. i dumped Comcast
because i got sick of the ever-increasing bills, and the only tv i watch is cable news, cspan, and OLN. So i picked up dishnetwork for the cost savings, but i've now added OLN and RAI, which has me back to what I was paying with Comcast. great planning scott. duh.

Thanks, ghisallo, for the info, I'm in.
Does this mean that they'll have the "ticker" going at 5am CDT and then show the ending only on live streaming video starting at 9am CDT?

I'm very bummed about c.tv not covering it, I've be SO looking forward to the early Saturday live video coverage of the Primavera.

Actually,
the ticker will begin at 4 a.m. Central. I hope the video will be viewable on this side of the pond.

A frozen 'cross ride from this last weekend. As you may be aware we have had siberian conditions here in the UK with a low of -14 degrees centigrade here on saturday morning. It was a beautiful sunny morning so i layered up and set off for a snowy 'cross ride along a roman road. I checked the thermometer when i got back to find it had been -10 throughout the ride! I had a lot of fun though and the views were spectacular.
