Breaking: Petacchi Cleared to Race

PrintWire services report that the Italian Cycling Federation has rejected the findings of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) and declined to punish Alessandro Petacchi for excessive Salbutamol use in this year's Giro d'Italia. CONI had recommended a one-year suspension, and Petacchi was shelved by his Milram team as a result, missing the Tour de France. So unless the UCI wants to make an example for the other TUE holders, this whole weird episode is over.

Italian press reports that Torri has said that he will appeal the decision of the Italian federation. Torri is displeased ;-)
