Maximum Mags

Not to steal Scott's thunder, who posted the link to Mags' Pez diary on the stage 18 live thread, but if you haven't read it, do so. http://www.pezcyclingnews.com/?pg=fullstory&id=5156

Anyway, call it an impulse, but I responded so positively to Mag's outburst, that I shelled out 27 bucks and change for a pound (500g) of Mags' coffee. Almost half of the $ goes to shipping, but the $ helps out young cyclists, and that is the point.

I've posted before that while I really, really want to see the sport clean itself up, I still am inspired by what riders who have cheated accomplished. I can't turn my back on heroes from past and present who have used PEDs. I don't approve of their methods or how they handle themselves in the press, but I don't want to throw them under the bus completely. Still, change in culture is happening and needs to happen. Change means what was let go last year or 10 years ago can no longer be let go.

I want the next generation to have a better chance of being able to push the envelope of their abilities and explore their physical and psychological limits without resorting to the pharma crutch. So I'm buying some expensive coffee from Mags. I encourage y'all to do the same.

In truth, I was stealing thunder from Pez/Mags.

We have
very few laws. No assholes, but otherwise be yourself. And if that means being a tool of the corporate consumption forces, c'est la vie.

Another note:
The price of the coffee w/o shipping is in line w/ good beans and it goes to a great cause.

If you are going to order from the US, fer crissakes get whole beans instead of ground coffee. Your taste buds will thank you profusely.

This is controversial
We recently switched to grounds, because we have too many children to grind our own beans every day, especially since one or both of them can't stand the sound. I'm actually using espresso pods for a variety of reasons. Is this a mistake?

you can buy a silent
coffee grinder for a mere $600 or so.

Priorities
That $600.00 will go a long way towards a new wheel set.

I'm just sayin'

:)

an easier way: wrap your grinder
in 600 $1 bills. Sort of a piggy bank/grinder muffler combo.

Not unless the grounds
have to cross the Atlantic on a boat. The problem w/ buying ground coffee is that it can't be stored as long as beans. If you buy a pound and brew it every day, no problem. I grind my coffee in the store.

But I got a lecture and was nearly assaulted by a Stumptown roaster (Far and away Portland's best coffee, IMHO) When I tried to ship a pound of Finca del Valle coffee to a buddy in Boston. He INSISTED that I send beans since the time in the mail would make sending grounds a waste of primo coffee.

So I allowed his enthusiasm to persuade me.

Coffee
I only weigh 65KG. Is there a Maximus Medius blend for me?

I think that
I may be the only non-coffee drinker in cyclodom. I enjoy a good double espresso after dinner from time to time, but otherwise couldn't be bothered with the stuff. The horrified look on your face? Yeah, I get that every time I mention this to someone new.

I don't drink it either
at this point I have to chew the beans directly to get any effect.

Don't make me
shun you two. I've really enjoyed your work so far.

Whatever
I bet I could break that shun in a moment, by simply telling you about the beer in my fridge. I've seen more believable shunning on Big Love.

Tell me more about
this beer you speak of. Is it frosty and refreshing?

Stone Arrogant Bastard Ale
I just finished a nice big bottle whilst lounging on the beach.

Very enjoyable.

It helps to live close to the brewery.

Amen.
For those of you who haven't tried this brew, you're missing out on something real good.
