Saying he has spent the past four years working to put together the race, Tour of America founder Frank Arokiasamy tells Cycling Weekly that he is "very confident" his 21-stage, 2,223-mile (3,579 km) race is still a go to begin Sept. 9 in New York's Central Park.
However, the interview reveals that Arokiasamy has imposed a March 31st deadline to evaluate whether the race will really go off as planned this year.
The race's official website says the race route is "tentative" and "subject to change upon city approval."
