GB team news - it looks like I might have been right for a change (possibly)!
So...last week (or the week before, I forget when it was exactly) when it was revealed that Scott Sunderland wasn't going to be at Cervelo after all, but would instead be working for some unnamed team that was looking to be set up for the 2010 road season, I put forward the suggestion that maybe it was the proposed GB road team - and according to Feltet.dk that's exactly who he's off to - so that's another Aussie helping GB cycling if the rumours are true.
His job for next year will be scouting for riders. Will be interesting to see just what the Brits/non-Brits mix ends up being...

Does this have anything to do with the pro track team that GB put together?
The time is definitely right for British Cycling to put together a team for both, especially after crushing everyone in the Olympics on the track and Nicole Cooke doing the same at the Olympics and Worlds. What a team you lot have this year. Whatever they’re doing, they need to import some of that to the colonies.
If I just had one more gear, I...
"Whatever they're doing"
I think that all they are doing that no-one else is doing is paying. The US did it before the LA games and cleaned up. The Aussies did it in the run up to the Sydney games. I have no doubt that after 2012 they will get a bit bored of shelling out all those millions for 3 days of publicity every 4 years, and that someone else will look to the track and think “cheap gold medals.”
And Nicole is sadly a bit of a freak
not in a nasty way, but ‘cos she’s unique, a one off. She had no serious club support or advice as she grew up, just apparently a dad who kept telling her “why aren’t you still training.”
