Pat McQuaid says some targeted Giro retests are being done
You would not want to contribute to the re-test of blood and urine samples from the past.
"That is a misunderstanding, I will do. We are now in the targeted re-test of some cyclists in the Giro and the Tour of Portugal this year. Instead of all those criticisms, the UCI should have appreciation for his anti-doping program. We have just this year alone eight thousand tests conducted. "

A certain amount of retest of old samples were expected as part of the passport. The numbers indicate something;s up, so go back to the samples to see if they back up the numbers. He’s always said they’d retest if there was reason to.

In the lean months of the year Pat McQuaid/UCI has gotta stay in the news some how.
The first thing I thought when they said in July, I think, that they were just going to move forward with testing and not go back to the Giro was that in July the UCI/WADA already had enough doping news in the press.
Anything that they pulled out of the Giro would get lost in what happened in the TDF but if it was saved until the winter, it would be a much better show as you could choreograph a series of events over the next 5 months that can distract from, or diffuse the significance of, the spring races and culminate in some sort of event just before the Giro.
I’m not saying that everyone was clean in the Giro, and maybe they’ll get some real good may come from this.
I’m just saying that this has more to do with budgets and power then it has to do with really getting this sport clean.
