Linc du Jour
Sometimes VeloNews answers letters to the editors and it's really interesting. Today: rockets!
Bonus! My bad suggestion of the day: shouldn't announcers at the race departs play "Sky rockets in flight..." on the soundsystem when Katyusha is signing in? Or would that make everyone who gets the song stuck in their head for the next five hours want to kill them?

What a neat little history lesson.
You can’t imagine though how upset I am that those links to the singing won’t work in the office…waaah! These transliterated names are always such a nightmare….the Dutch call them “Katjoesja”.
Oh no, after listening to all that
all the great songs from the AC/DC concert I went to yesterday, that were stuck in my head, have now been replaced by this crap, and all I can hear now is Katyusha. Why did I ever dare to click on those links.

aaaaaaaaaaaargh
10 years after playing my last game of Tetris, I thought I had finally evacuated all Russian music out of my brain.
As bad as that Russian song is,
it doesn’t hold a candle to the pure horrendousness that was brought to us in the good ole US of A by the Starland Vocal Band.
“Thinkin’ of you’s workin’ up my appetite
looking forward to a little afternoon delight.
Rubbin’ sticks and stones together makes the sparks ingite
and the thought of rubbin’ you is getting so exciting.”
If you are too young to remember this song, here is a cover that will make you want to stick an icepick in your ears before its over. Happy Thanksgiving.
