Napolitano Russian Bound

Euro-bag_medium

The speedy Italian sprinter Danilo Napolitano is heading to Team Katyusha for the 2009 cycling season, according to radsport-news. The Italian had 6 wins for Lampre this year, his biggest win to date was a stage at the 2007 Giro. Napolitano will join fellow sprinters, Robbie McEwen and Gert Steegmans at a loaded Katyuscha squad. Katyusha's 09 roster should look something like this:

BRUTT Pavel, IGNATIEV Mikhail, PETROV Evgeni, ROVNY Ivan, SEROV Alexander, TRUSSOV Nikolai, BODROGI Laszlo, BOTCHAROV Alexandre, COLOM MAS Antonio, DEHAES Kenny, HORRACH RIPPOLL Joan, IVANOV Serguei, KARPETS Vladimir,  MARKOV Alexei, MCEWEN Robbie, NAPOLITANO Danilo, PFANNBERGER Christian,  POZZATO Filippo, STEEGMANS Gert, SWIFT Ben, VANDENBERGH Stijn

Update, by Gav: The 31 year old sprinter Angelo Furlan will take Napolitano's spot on the Lampre roster, according to today's press reports.

heh

If you want me to write you a gossip column, you can’t be stealing all the material ;-)

Do they have confirmation on this? That he’s leaving Lampre is pretty much a done deal as of tomorrow. But it didn’t sound like the Katyusha part was confirmed, from the Italian article I read. Napolitano was also connected by rumor to, eh, Gianetti, I believe.

you can't steal everything with your Gossip :)

there is so much out there this week that you’ll have plenty of stuff to right about. But I don’t even think Katyusha even has a website yet, so I don’t know if it’s completely confirmed. Radsport news seem pretty sure of it though, so does cqranking. Btw how much of a bitch is it to right Katyusha, we need a nickname for them.

Ok, I've found a bunch of websites who confirm it

so it seems a done deal.

Dang

Napo is dead to me now, but what does Lampre have against sprinting? Are they still Italian?

CQRanking.com, you complete me.

A frozen 'cross ride from this last weekend. As you may be aware we have had siberian conditions here in the UK with a low of -14 degrees centigrade here on saturday morning. It was a beautiful sunny morning so i layered up and set off for a snowy 'cross ride along a roman road. I checked the thermometer when i got back to find it had been -10 throughout the ride! I had a lot of fun though and the views were spectacular.
