Jan Ullrich Rocks ?

again a rumoured comeback
http://www.velo-club.net/article?sid=48850

mmm...75 words...ok, I'll throw in the bit in Le Monde a few weeks ago,  translated:-
Following Lance Amstrong's sensational return to pro cycling, we tracked down one of his biggest rivals, the German Jan Ullrich, to see if he had any plans for a similar return. We found him in a bakery in Munich, and through mouthfuls of strudel he told us of his thoughts.
"Ja, for sure I will now return to cycling," explained the big German, through a face full of Black Forest gateau. "I'm now at my racing weight of 92 kilos and have been working hard on my brunch sprints. I want to race the Paris-Nice, because I like biscuits, and in Amstel Gold for the beers." And what of the Tour de France? "Of course, this is the biggest race. I have strategies to help me here. I cannot say to you too much, but my plan is to ride hard on the bike one day and then go by train the next. This is the only way to beat Armstrong, I think. And also there is a buffet on the train for if I get hungry. Do you want the rest of that sausage roll?"

Haha that's great

although after reading the title I was worried for a moment that jan was going to sign with Rock Racing, happy that wasn’t the case.

Combine

ALL rumours with Cipo to ISD Danieli – wild card invite for the 100 Giro to the team with the rider with most stage wins, (selon L’Espresso, la formation italo-ukrainienne ISD Danieli est en négociation avec Cipollini pour un deuxième come back – http://www.cyclismag.com/article.php?sid=4613), “I aim to take the pink jersey in the first week – says Rebellin – then hope to pass it to Gilberto” (Simoni already saying things about Basso – http://www.ciclonews.it/news_scheda.php?id=14162), Cavendish saying he will only go for the first week (Zomegan will love that) & more, then kaboom would be the understatement of the year. But this is real life & it’s not going to happen…well, not all of it…

Ullrich's manager denies rumors

story on CN.

Oh it can still happen

why would Jan schedule a meeting with Ball to just talk cycling. If he wanted to just talk cycling then going to Ball isn’t exactly the best option. Maybe Jan should join PdC.

Ok Ball scheduled the meeting

but still why would Jan even go to talk with him when he knows that the only thing that will come out of it is a bunch of fun rumors

Sheesh

Ball is pretty dogged in his fashion-based pursuit of edgy press…

And on that same CN page

Rock have apparently not applied for a Pro-Conti licence so they wouldn’t be eligible for a wild card anyway.

by Monty. on Nov 7, 2008 7:21 PM EST up reply actions

Not like they would have gotten one

I have a feeling the UCI just might have been turned off by all those dopers on the team.

Since when has that ever bothered them? If the money’s in order, you got a licence.

They're not part of the passport program

so they couldn’t get wild cards anyway, at least not into the uci events.

Is the Giro a UCI event?

No but I wasn't speaking of just the Giro

I still doubt that the Giro will let them in but I meant the PT events, and ASO will want nothing to do with Rock either.

But as a ProConti team – which is what they were rumoured to be looking at – they wouldn’t expect to be riding ProTour events.

They might expect to receive a wild card

only ProConti teams can receive wild cards so as one they might get into a PT event, but not if they are not part of the passport program.

really?

huh. it was so totally confirmed earlier that they had applied…

but of course, there’s confirmed, then there’s confirmed.

Everything’s constantly changing. Even Cofidis have changed their mind it seems and decided to stay as a ProTour team

Jan never got officially suspended for Puerto, right? And although the authorities gathered info, they never really pushed for a hearing, in part because he’d retired. If he tried to make a comeback, wouldn’t they likely get more active on the disciplinary proceeding front?

Maybe

Can the Spanish judiciary activate the case? If not, then it’s all lost in the ether.

If Jan signs with Rock, I'm

so totally rocking the RR kit. Whether it’ll be ironically or not is still undetermined.

A frozen 'cross ride from this last weekend. As you may be aware we have had siberian conditions here in the UK with a low of -14 degrees centigrade here on saturday morning. It was a beautiful sunny morning so i layered up and set off for a snowy 'cross ride along a roman road. I checked the thermometer when i got back to find it had been -10 throughout the ride! I had a lot of fun though and the views were spectacular.
