Ever wonder what they mean when they say Flemings love their cycling? Catch the reaction to Tom Boonen's Paris-Roubaix victory from inside a local pub. Very cool.

Tommeke Tommeke Tommeke!

Excellent. The thought that that sort of thing might ever go on in an English pub is faintly hilarious. Why wasn’t I born Flemish?!

I'll join you on that albertina...

I was jumping around like an idiot in my lounge room, i’m sure the neighbours heard me…

Have you seen how good looking some of the Belgium Boys are…. Bring on april hehehe

I was at the hospital (in Cambridge, so not near home) visiting my mum (replaced hip!) during Tom's win.

I didn’t see it therefore. But when I got home and saw the result I acted a little like those Flemish fans :-) Ah Tom, so gorgeous, such a silly boy!

Cycling fans in Belgium are like NFL fans in the US

I hope someone else besides Boonen wins this year. Not naming any names or anything.

Are you saying they also do this?

Had to get a shot against the Lions in, 0-16…hahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you seen the jerseys: 0-16 across the front. Just awesome.

Don't think I've seen them

unless you mean this gem

Very nice, those Lions fans must be so proud

poor Chris btw, he makes a post about the emotions around P-R and we turn it into an NFL conversation. Oh well. this is history we’re talking about here, 0-16, I never thought I would see the day…lol Also Nikki, I was getting pretty pissed at your Packers there for a while, they made it tougher than it had to be, but at least the got the job done and completed the winless season.

We did what just needed to be done. ha ha.

I am just happy the Bears are out now too. We should’ve taken them out the week before but alas… it is a “rebuilding” year, right? Tee hee.

At least you knew the packers were out for a while

it’s harder when your team blows a 3 game lead with 3 to play! And amazingly Mike Shanahan was fired today, although I’m not necessarily unhappy about it, I’m completely shocked.

Yeah, getting closer and closer has to make it harder.

Sorry for your loss? Bahahah. Oops. I mean, I am so sorry. There’s always next year right? Tee hee.

Don't be sorry

I couldn’t stand watching that crap any longer, they would have gotten killed against the Colts anyway. I hope SD loses though, I hate that prick Philip Rivers

How do you really feel dear? ha ha!

I’m ready for football to be over and cycling to be back on. This off season has been rough. I mean really, look at our posts. ha ha. Thank goodness we have Gavia here with stories and Chris working on team reports and Ursula cooking up some good numbers to look at. Gav – have you given him back his tools yet?

Yes enough Football

I’m always excited when the Super Bowl is on because it means the cycling season has started, not because I care much for the game.

0-16 I missed that . That is quite a feat.

Thank god the car industry is in great shape or they would be miserable in Detroit.

BTW: They’re Stanley Cup champions thanks to a team with like a million swedes in the lineup. Just sayin.

Very cool!

The only time I’ve seen anything comparable was in a bar in Pitesti, Romania, when Romania beat England in the 1998 World Cup. Afterwards, people drove around the city all night long honking their horns.

There’s nothing quite like cheering on the hometown team/boy/girl to bring people together in a celebration. I wasn’t living in Minneapolis when the Twins won the 1987 World Series, but my dad went to the downtown celebration, and he said the only time he’d seen anything like it was VE Day.

Very like central London in 2005 when the England cricketers won the Ashes series against Australia

for the first time in, like, yonks. You couldn’t move in Trafalgar Square. Pity we couldn’t keep winning…..

But you have taken the Rugby World Cup of us the last two times :-(((

Thank you Johnny won’t be at the next one… Well I’m hoping..

Well we didn't win the last one despite doodsmaking you lot ;-) Got trumped in the final by the Boks.

But yes, the one before was IMMENSE. I couldn’t go to the open top bus parade but I gather it was similar. Johnny probably won’t be at the next one no…he can’t stay fit for any length of time whatsoever…but you might want to get familar with little Danny ;-)

Scanning through the "Big Photographs" from today's stage 7 of the Giro on Steephill (worth a look after every stage) and I noticed, on this image - whose caption describes "Niemec about to launch Lampre-ISD teammate Michele Scarponi on the steepest (10%) part of the climb" - that both Lampre cyclists are in the big chain ring.

Let me repeat that. 10% slope. Business end of stage 7 of the Giro. Big Chain Ring!
