Or, do you mean he could have smoked these guys even more but he was too bored to try?

I think Andy and Ben J-M probably tried pretty hard.

Do the riders have a team car following them to change out flats in this type of race?

(I wish I had that this morning at 6:50 AM when I ran out of CO2 and had to call my wife to pick me up)

I'm Surprised The Officials Allowed Him To Race

If someone had crashed into him - or he had crashed into someone else (pretty unlikely, I know), this race would have had some serious liability issues.

The event was permitted as a "team time trial." One person does not constitute a team.

Does this mean you are not competing but just kinda of showed up? What's the status of this category?

That I rode right by the event on Sunday morning, duh... I came down Wildcat Canyon Road from Berkeley to Orinda. Some guy was descending pretty fast behind me on this twisty off-camber road, the guy had a Specialized kit on, now I see that he was headed to the race. Hell, I would have stopped for a while if...
