Can't help myself

Devo and H\o/ste angry
They both want to be there. Maaskant isn't the guy to get chasing the gap down.

44 second gap.

Maaskant
Trying to send some good ju-ju vibes his way! You can do it, keep it going!!!  What a great ride for him!

The only question, now
is how do Ballan and Cancellara work over Boonen?
-K-

by KevinK on Apr 13, 2008 10:17 AM EDT   0 recs

Indeed`
And the next 10km have four tough pave sections. Business time!

Pave 6
Kings of the pave in the front

Hincapie and Van Der Flecha are back in the chasing group

Fabien Cancelara, Tom boonen, alessandro Ballan hammering at the front

Maaskant
Should be going for 4th now. Let the others burn their matches. Seriously. Ho/ste is gonna wave his arms, and O'Grady and Devo are going to use team tactics to kill him... he's probably going to be in 7th, sadly.

by BDBrian on Apr 13, 2008 10:18 AM EDT   0 recs

Tony's only hope
Is to put the hammer down on sector 2 and just ride Boonen off his wheel

by Jimbo... on Apr 13, 2008 10:19 AM EDT   0 recs

sector 6 of pave
doesn't look too wicked

Just in the ride of his fucking life. He looks like he might be dropped. 25k to go. Amazing ride, though. Would be a shame if he got passed for 7th now.

Ballan
I think Ballan is the most tired guy of the three leaders, but he is a not transparent guy!!

by semprenaroda on Apr 13, 2008 10:22 AM EDT   0 recs

he's still hanging on
Top 10 would still be SWEET for him!

Pave 6
Boonen leading Cance and Ballan

four ** stars

time for someone to put hurt on Boonen, if they don't fancy their chances sprinting on the velodrome

Howdy Kop
Long time no see.
Great racing today.

Trying to drop O'Grady. Temporary move though.

by Chris... on Apr 13, 2008 10:24 AM EDT   0 recs

How about
A train crossing that the top 3 get DQed for illegally crossing. O'Grady and Devolder also go through incorrectly. Maaskant out-sprints Ho/ste for 1st?

by Chris... on Apr 13, 2008 10:25 AM EDT   0 recs

Tactics for Devo and O'Grady
if they can drop the others, it is a huge advantage to have them bridge. they just aren't allowed to tow anyone with them.

So they will attack, forcing others to chase, but they won't go all the way until the others have asploded.

by Koppenberg on Apr 13, 2008 10:25 AM EDT   0 recs

Gap is already 1:08"
to O'Grady and Devolder. Still need to protect against punctures, etc...

Strategery
Basically, if one of them is superior, they'll ride away eventually. And if they're all strong, Boonen will kill them in the velodrome.

by Chris... on Apr 13, 2008 10:29 AM EDT   0 recs

Pave 5
This may be O'Grady's chance to gap Stijn. Stijn looks stronger today, but O'Grady is better over the rough stuff.

has a good shot at a top 5 since he doesn't seem to have overworked himself vs the others. Or so it seems.

Figures. Ballan is trying to kep the gap closed, but couldn't do it. Boonen gets on Cance's wheel, though.
