No.
And if any of the 324 people that visited that site before me (who are not named Greg) ARE writing to Congress as a result of that, I boggle at their priorities.

Oy
Sports have to stop running to Congress for cover and start solving their own problems.

or Congress needs
to stop getting involved.

Both
That Congress wasted a single second on those stupid baseball hearings when, oh, I dunno, our Constitution was being turned into a complete joke, sends me around the bend.

Must... resist...
politics... I can't decide if that part of the equation is too easy or too long. Anyway, like a good judge, one set of grounds to deny the petition will do for now.

Sorry. Trying.
but good god amighty, does Congress have some things it ought to be doing.  And they don't include grandstanding on and babysitting for sports.

(I'll grant that Congress does have some interest in, say, the baseball anti-trust exemption, or  ensuring that the Federal dollars that end up at USADA are properly overseen.  But that's at the bottom of a long long list.)

Enemies list
Go ahead and vent. I'm sure the Podium Cafe is already on the President's enemies list.

I'm also sure the enemies list is written in crayon and is hanging on a refrigerator, and enemies is spelled "emenies".

No,
I won't be writing Congress, they have no place in sports. Cheat or not.

As a Texan, I am a little worried that a farce may someday run for office in my home state. I noticed mention of him in my 4th grade son's Social Studies book. Let that sink in.....

by CannonDowell on Apr 10, 2008 9:38 AM EDT   0 recs

well exactly
If sports figures would stop running for political office (unless they happened to have some actual qualifications) ... and / or lending their glitter to those in office (yes, I'm looking at Lance while saying this) then congress would pay a lot less attention to sports.

see  http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/08/images/20050820_bushandlance-515h.html

We had Lynn Swann running for governor here in PA basically on the platform of "being a nice guy and a really good football player."  Substituting "intense" and "cyclist" isn't much better.

Words that come to mind after visiting that site..
Naive.

Immature.

Cowardly.

It reads kind of like a high school project.

by Toyota on Apr 10, 2008 9:51 AM EDT   0 recs

Indeed
I'm sure Congress would be impressed.

Or intimidated
Some of it might be over their heads.
