Rock Goes 1-2-3-4 In Colombia

Rockracingtrio_medium
Rock Racing swept the top four places in Saturday’s prologue time trial at the Tour of Colombia.

Santiago Botero, like he did last year in winning the race, won the 8.3 km time trial, followed by Rock teammates Victor Hugo Peña (seven seconds behind), Oscar Sevilla and Tyler Hamilton (both 14 seconds behind).

Rock Racing is one of three non-Colombian teams (out of 15) in the 15-day race. Results of the prologue can be found here.

Columbia...land of the marching powder.

I hope those clowns stay down there.

Being Colombian...

I’ll take offense to that.

Not the marching powder comment, which is true.

But the comment that they stay down there.

It really is shameful that RR is boasting so broadly, in light that their budget should have them racing in Europe, not Latin America.

A Colombian team could only dream of having such a budget to play with!

FWIW

I thought it was interesting that the Rock Racing press release headlined an Indy Car win, and not the To(theother)C win.

Rock Racing Driver Qualifies For Indy 500 Following Big Day For Cycling Team At Vuelta A Colombia
May 10, 2008 (Indianapolis, IN) – IndyCar driver Tomas Scheckter, supported by Rock Racing, locked in the 11th position on Pole Day, capturing the final qualifying spot for the 92nd running of the Indianapolis 500. Scheckter, sporting a helmet and driving gear bearing the Rock Racing insignia, was only one of the Rock Racing winners to cross the finish line in a top position today. At the 58th Vuelta a Colombia, the Rock Racing Pro Cycling team had a clean sweep of the podium, with Santiago Botero, Victor Hugo Peña and Oscar Sevilla capturing first, second and third, respectively, in Saturday’s prologue. Teammate Tyler Hamilton finished fourth.
