Around SBN: The Week In Worst: When Baseball Goes Wrong

Best Cycling Book Ever

This is an annual (re. mindlessly repetitive) rite here at the Podium Cafe: where I insist everyone get a copy of Dino Buzzati's Giro d'Italia.

I'll keep it brief this time, and promise not to speak of it again this month. But here are a few excerpts of note...

... on the significance of starting in Palermo, as this year's race is.

... on the dreams of the gregario.

... on the travails of the journalist.

Also, here's a site with a little more background. There, my work is done.

Interlibrary Loan is Your Friend
The last time Chris recommended this, the cheapest used copy on Amazon was $200+!  So while I'm glad to see it has dropped (in fact, I ordered my own copy a month or so ago), I'll point out that it's pretty well available through the interlibrary loan system.  And well worth the effort!

IIRC
There were a few $20 copies last year when we raised this, but we cleaned out Amazon in a matter of minutes. Act soon!

Whoops
Already up to $34.

There's a copy under glass in my bike closet. You can make appointments to read it on premises. Bring your own latex gloves.
