Dauphiné Libéré Stage 2... LIVE!

Dauphine Libere Stage 2... LIVE!

Another 184km appetizer, this one with two cat-4 rated climbs in the last 50km. However, til then it's relatively flat, and as we saw today a few small climbs aren't going to shed all the fast men. An uphill finish might, but today it's a downhill run in to the line. Great day for escapes, or sprinters. Enjoy!

I know it's early...

But the comment of the day so far has to go to the “le dauphine” ticker writer:

David De La Fuente (Saunier Duval) enjoys riding in France. He’s a summertime’s man judging from his results in the past, for example in the Tour de France where he battled for the polka dot jersey. The 27 years old Spanish rider turned professionnal in 2003. Like Oscar Freire, he comes from Cantabria (Spain). Unlike the former World Champion, he doesn’t raise his arms often: only 1 professionnal success.

Posted on George's site -

This is directly copied from it:

Congratulations George on a fantastic victory on Stage 2 of the Dauphine Libere! After High Road Sprinter, André Greipel had a mechanical in the last few kilometers, team director, Allan Peiper gave George the green light to go for the win. He didn’t waste any time with an aggressive move attacking the field in the final approach to the line. George bridged the gap to a lone rider inside the last kilometer and out sprinted the rest for the stage win. He has shown some great fitness lately and we new good things were in store for this week. The win moves George into 4th place in the general classification. We also want to congratulate High Road teammate Craig Lewis on his performances so far this week. Craig placed 11th in the prologue time trial and was sitting in 10th place in the GC going into today’s stage. He’s riding really well and showing improvement with every race. Well done, boys.
