Dauphiné Libéré Stage 2... LIVE!
Dauphine Libere Stage 2... LIVE!
Another 184km appetizer, this one with two cat-4 rated climbs in the last 50km. However, til then it's relatively flat, and as we saw today a few small climbs aren't going to shed all the fast men. An uphill finish might, but today it's a downhill run in to the line. Great day for escapes, or sprinters. Enjoy!

I know it's early...
But the comment of the day so far has to go to the “le dauphine” ticker writer:
David De La Fuente (Saunier Duval) enjoys riding in France. He’s a summertime’s man judging from his results in the past, for example in the Tour de France where he battled for the polka dot jersey. The 27 years old Spanish rider turned professionnal in 2003. Like Oscar Freire, he comes from Cantabria (Spain). Unlike the former World Champion, he doesn’t raise his arms often: only 1 professionnal success.
Looks like another sprint stage
How big are those hills at the end?

they look much bigger here

So maybe this isn’t a sprint stage after all…?

They are only saml
at 335m and 50m with good run between them and a further downhill. So the sprinter teams should cope

Good Morning all.
I’m in but 1200 sputtered so I dropped to 800 for better listening.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
yes, it's the sputtering
that destroys the race … I wish they’d have the sound on a seperate channel.
nothing working right now
wait, I hear bagpipes

I'm now down to 400.

The TV2 feed was flawless today…!
Okay, who are they pushing out of the way.
I don’t know that I’ve seen guys push them out the back like that before.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
By the way
Wasn’t yesterday’s roll-in to the finish by High Road a bit of a cluster-f….? Except for the Hincapie “I’ll try a miss-timed attacked because I didn’t look at the stage profile” attack, they put exactly no one in the top 150…..
typical high road....

$6000
for that wheel set? That is just insane…
Which Italian Pro Tour Team rides the Cannondale SystemSix?
My neighbor works with a women who bought her husband a
$3900 wheel set. He just about died. I just laughed and said – good woman. :-)
It was a milestone bday gift or something but if that’s what he wanted, good for her for doing it.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Brian- A+ today
IMO its very big of Brian to talk about his drinking after racing in light of Boonen.
He was very open about it.
And he has some points with the Boonen thing.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Solid peloton descending.
Should be a bunch sprint at the end with.

Eurosport live video
is generally (but not always) geoblocked here.
This machine is in a different enough language that I have to pay very close attention to get the names right :)
Did Hincapie win?
CTV locked up for good right at the end

The Flomax must be working :)

Scandinavia rules!
First the Norwegians for the Giro, now the Danes – something about Northern efficiency, I’m thinking….
Of course, what else can you expect from us

Screwed the pooch all around there
My picture went our 5 times in the last 5 KM but I saw the finish right befoe it went out the last time.
But the peloton screwed their finish even worse IMO. Hincapie- a great pounce to finish the race!
So excited for George!
Now if Mel has the baby today – how much would that rock?

using firefox?
I can’t think of what the difference between us might be. My ISP is pretty clearly ID’d as US, so I can’t imagine that it’s a geoblocking issue.
Why have they ditched the 256 option?
That might save bandwidth.
They are playing with us,

I think I could even help on the translation today :-)
Very happy for George. Nice to see him go after it and get it!

That so wasn't me this time.
And I checked the innertube and don’t see it noted so he had to get an email. There is a guy I think Nicky that comments over there. Too funny though. I do aid in our game with hello’s to them. :-)

http://www.cyclingfans.com is the best place to go for alternate coverage. They have a couple other video streams and a link to eurosport audio. So you can watch a good sized danish stream and listen in english to eurosport for example.
Damn... did I totally miss the race today?

c.tv strikes again

You know... if you don't attempt to log into C.TV until the race is over...
... the frustration of not seeing it is lessened considerably :)

yay for Hinky and High Road
Cool result right there.
They really need to run this race an hour later. Too damn early ;-)
And now is when you and Lyne get to do some test run
PR threads for their new site you’re going to do! Some pics of George too please. LOL!
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Someone fill me in...
When Leipheimer is done mating with his Time Trialing bike... does he bite its head off and eat it?
there were, like
a bunch of guys on, like, bikes, you know? And they went, like, really really fast. And then one of them crossed this, y’know, line before the others and then it was like, done, I guess. You shoulda seen it!
And like they were wearing like spandex. They were like hot, man. Totally should've seen it.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Were they? Were they hot?
Because I don’t recall Benna making the startlist for this one.
When Leipheimer is done mating with his Time Trialing bike... does he bite its head off and eat it?
Okay, so they weren't Benna
But there is very little wrong with watching these guys and George, well he’ll always be a favorite!
So yes, yes they were. :-P
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
On second thought...
I think Nikki should do the ticker!
LOL! Good job!
I think someone should hire you to do a ticker! ;-P
From the comments above...
... it looks like 3 hours of nothing much happeneing, two riders in a break… then a mountain happened and the break got swallowed up and George et Levi bridged to something, then two riders crashed, one from Lotto and one from Cycling.TV… only one of them apparently was able to get up and finish the race though.
When Leipheimer is done mating with his Time Trialing bike... does he bite its head off and eat it?
very well summed up there Dan!
The last 20 k’s or so were frantic, just in time for CTV to start bitching again….

What was the coverage time today?
Maybe an hour? Feed was horrlble today but all you really really needed were the last 10 minutes or so.
I will be rewatching that tonight! :-) Good attacking and racing at the end today!
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
it was 1+ hour
They got in with around 40 k’s to go. I’ll watch it later too, great racing in the end.
Too bad CTV sucked once again so badly, already from the start…. I just don’t get it why they can’t solve these issues….

money...!
they started out on the wrong foot—and it’s impossibly expensive to start all new.
maybe their new owner might be more interested in fixing the problem.
It has been working well until today.
And today was a disaster, once again..
I wonder what they are doing with our money???
by Bruce Suomi on Jun 10, 2008 11:11 AM EDT up reply actions
How can that be possible?
They should at least then say that the feed is going to suck big time, since they are broke. ...

So what was the podium???
When Leipheimer is done mating with his Time Trialing bike... does he bite its head off and eat it?
Posted on George's site -
This is directly copied from it:
Congratulations George on a fantastic victory on Stage 2 of the Dauphine Libere! After High Road Sprinter, André Greipel had a mechanical in the last few kilometers, team director, Allan Peiper gave George the green light to go for the win. He didn’t waste any time with an aggressive move attacking the field in the final approach to the line. George bridged the gap to a lone rider inside the last kilometer and out sprinted the rest for the stage win. He has shown some great fitness lately and we new good things were in store for this week. The win moves George into 4th place in the general classification. We also want to congratulate High Road teammate Craig Lewis on his performances so far this week. Craig placed 11th in the prologue time trial and was sitting in 10th place in the GC going into today’s stage. He’s riding really well and showing improvement with every race. Well done, boys.

Just watched the highlight!
Good damn stuff! The last 11K was awesome and watching George it was almost as if you could hear the radio – “George, feel free to go if you want.” George then says – “F yeah! I’m going, see all yalls later!!!” Good stuff. :-)
