today's tour of PA stage: video and photos
Nice spot, about half a Km from the 2nd KOM. Some people hurting, for sure.
I'm uploading to you tube and picassa as I type. First video is just the break, chasers, peloton. It's taking heck of a time to upload, so I'll post this, and then add the link in comments. The 2nd and 3rd are a small group (vid 2) then grupetto / stragglers (vid 3).
For now, try the photo album (The are in order, starting with most but not all of the leaders). Many of the later shots were blurry...that's what happens trying to shoot two-fisted).
If this post is brand new and the video link is not there yet / does not work for you, try in another 5 minutes. It should be up by 5:45 or so.

Cool!
I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who gets rained on when he tries to ride in PA.

thanks - looks like (and read like) a miserable day out there
okay if I embed your video in my blog? (please)

Totally fine to embed! Especially if you happen to ID some of them.
An honor, in fact. P.S. It only poured occasionally and locally. I don’t know how hard they got nailed before and after this climb, but it wasn’t too bad for the hour or so that we were waiting and watching.

that's a mountain laurel, for laurel "mountain"
I also had a may apple, ‘cause it’s July, but that didn’t make sense.
Seriously, in that front group, I can pick some out by team and number, because it looks like the break did indeed stay away:
Is the first guy the same Slippie-kid (VMG/Felt) who was in a long break yesterday? Or (as makes more sense) is yesterday’s Slippie-kid the one in the KOM jersey in the 3rd place spot? I’m impressed with the team, even without knowing who’s who. (The day’s standings show three of them, Stetina, Salon and Fairly, finishing with the break.)
The Kelly rider in 2nd slot was looking strong in a “keep on plugging” sort of way. Pretty much has to be David Veilleux; no-one’s willing to pull him.
The Praties guy in the front group is #12. Dylan Newell. All legs. Works the bike well, not wasting energy. I like this one.
Then #112: Alex Welch, from a team I don’t know.
Right with him, a #44 or 144. Has to be Phil Gaimon of Fiordifrutta.
55 looks good to me (another leggy one) and a bit older—Rabobank (so say the orange shorts). That would make him Global Cycling’s Dennis Luyt. And…he’s all of 21.“Bizhub” (= Konica?) #65 would be Van Heerden. Muscled like a sprinter, and he’s been top-10 every day except day 3.
The Z-team guy hanging on the end of the break is (I think) #122, making him Chad Beyer.
Individual riders next: the other Bizhub looks like he’s catching up, not falling off, but that’s based on attitude, not a speed reading! That would have to be Van Niekerk. Followed by a Z-team guy, no number visible. (Based on finish times, could be Stefano Barberi).
Then a gap, and ANOTHER Z-team guy: #125. (Guess they like to climb, or like rain.) Looks like he dropped back by the end.
Long gap to peloton with (I believe) the yellow jersey.
One of the Sakonnet guys is quite easy on the eyes, and not looking tired AT ALL. (well, not compared to those around him.) I’ll take an ID on him, too—if he’s looking around, smiling, and not breathing hard while out of the saddle…on the second climb of the day…in the rain…with the yellow jersey group…he’s got GC potential for longer races in years to come. Baumann? Could be.

sounds right to me
There was only 1 KBS in the break, so it is Veilleux.
Stetina is in the polkadots jersey, so tucked in right behind Veilleux in the video.
Barberi is one tiny dude in person (well aren’t they all).
Sounds like a doozy of a race. Still find it disappointing that velonews is not covering in person.
Cool, just read that Veilleux won the stage today.

that sakonnet kid
is probably Travis Burandt from Houston. He’s 17 or 18. He was sprinting against the 12s down here w/junior gears back in February.
