Well in Sweden it's a great day to do laundry..............
And since I’m bored I will file this report in the “Things we could care less about”-section of the Cafe:
Emilia Fahlin of Team Columbia became the new swedish RR- champion today. The 19-year old, who has won a string of sprints in some pretty big US races this year won by going with one of the early attacks in the race.
This attack was chased down by Emma Johansson (newly crowned TT-champ) and two time World RR Champion Susanne Ljungskog. Fahlin was the only one able to stay with the two favourites. Being a great sprinter ,one would have expected her to wait and take her chances in the sprint, but while the other two were busy guarding each other she attacked again 1,5 km from the finish soloing to victory!
If this girl doesn’t become a superstar it’s only because, well there are no superstars in womens cycling unfortunately.

If you provided a link to a photograph
she would have more fans and the guys would have something to counter all the drooling Benna induces in the women.

I just naturally assumed with all the smart people here
that people would realize that she, being swedish, is beatiful….
But of course I can add some picture evidence:

Bicyling does a small profile
on the 4 US riders – The Few, The Proud. This article turned me off (although just a peeve of mine with easy to check stats) that they have ages wrong. George turns 35 tomorrow so I let that one go thinking they’re listing Tour age. But, being the friendly fan I am of both C and Will their ages are wrong and I knew it right away. C just turned 32 in May and Will just turned 27 in June. Quick 2 minute read that doesn’s share a whole lot.

Sergio Paulinho (Astana)
is the new portuguese champion in TT.
Tiago Machado (Boavista) came in second only 2 seconds behind. This guys is only with 22 years old is the portuguese big promise. He is a kind of Lovkivst style.

Least surprising result ever!
Nicole Cooke wins her 9th British title, 8th in a row. She won her first when she was 16.

So since I'm new.... and this is an open thread...
I’ll post these here first.. Spent the day shooting for the Velo Bella crew at the Deer Valley Ut NMBS race. Talk about dirty pictures ;) In an nutshell, the womens pro was dominated by the Luna girls 123.. all day. Katarina Nash winning her first race, Gould and Prendel in 2 and 3. On the mens side Geoff Kabush started strong, was passed on the backside of the course on lap 1 and ended up 3rd on the day. I was late and never saw a start list so I don’t have plate numbers for anyone else. Photos are going up on http://www.pbase.com/prinothcat/nmbs_deer_valley_ut_062808 as I write this. Stay tuned as I’m working with the lovely ladies who bring you the latest gossip and NorAm road info to try and get up close for Tour de Utah in August.

I'm looking for Astarloza
and his season his the best for him so far…
look:
4º in Vuelta a Andalucia
6º in Vuelta ao Pais Basco
4º Klasika Primavera
5º Tour de Romandie
7º Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré
(good for VDS points)
Nothing brilliant but very consistent, the best in Euskaltel so far. Another year in the top 10?

news about Gerolsteiner's sponsor search?
L’Equipe has a bit – Holczer says more discussions will occur then he will make an announcement on Wednesday or Thursday. Hopefully, for the sake of the team and the riders, it’s a good announcement…

Cancellara turns down Rabobank (?)
Dutch newspaper “De Telegraaf” are rapporting that Fabian has turned down a 1,5 million Euro offer from Rabobank in order to stay with Sexy Back. I suppose they might know about the refused offer but I wouldn’t consider the Sexy Back part confirmed just yet.

Thought about it
But am glad to hand it off. My only request: try to rank them in order, so we can say who’s going up or down as the race unfolds.
