He beat Lövkvist and Niclas Axelsson in a sprint
after the three broke away on the last lap. Here is Lövkvist trying to break free of the other two on one of the last climbs. Ljungblad , the best sprinter of the three, managed to hang on though and then the outcome was pretty much sealed.

Amen!
Plus, he gets to ride that suh-weeeet Pinarello that J-Rod was sporting for a year.
This is shaping up to be an interesting tour!

No worries
Boom is on my VDS team just because he’s a cross rider and a great road rider when he wants to be.

sounds like a breakaway for most of the race
and Millar pulling the pack to try to catch them (unsuccessfully), Cav first of the main group
http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/Hayles_wins_Mens_National_RoadRace_Champs_article_262424.html
Hayles was all smiles. It was in stark contrast to March when he failed a haematocrit test on the eve of the World Track Championships.(now I remember why the name sounded familiar).

Boonen 5th
according to HLN via Google translator:
After a sprint is incidentrijke Jurgen Roelandts Belgian champion on his 23rd. Van Avermaet attracts the sprint fine for Roelandts. Weylandt touches the rear wheel of Boonen and kwakt heavily against the ground. He sleurt Meersman. Boonen gets a kwak of Eeckhout, but was also too short and is only fifth.
doodsmak, kwakt – I love Dutch!
by guidemd on Jun 29, 2008 12:02 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
That was an odd one
Quickstep had been riding for Boonen all day (when Gilbert made a break, Steegmans just sat on his wheel) and yet at the last corner Weylandt was on Boonen’s wheel when he crashed. Boonen was then kwakt even further by Nico Eeckhoout (sp?) cutting across straight in front of him in the final sprint. Meanwhile the two Lotto guys just raced each other to the line.
