Lehigh Valley Classic - Live

Sort of. I came across a live ticker on CN for the Lehigh Valley Classic and dug around looking to see if there was a live feed. There is definitely a live feed, but I'm not sure what to make of it.

It's basically one stationery camera positioned at the finish line. So, you can see the riders fly by for 8 seconds, and then you see a bunch of people just standing around.

It's all quite bizarre, but if you have nothing better to do for the next hour, have fun.

I guess we can use this as a results thread as well.

Ha

Thanks for posting this. I’d had hopes for my own attendance at Philly Week, but it looks like the window is closing on me. But I’ll take what I can get.

And here they come....

And there they go….

It’s like i’m actually there. Mundane conversation for 28 minutes, then cheering and action for 12 seconds.

Rinse, repeat.

If anybody knows where there is a good place to grab a bite to eat, let me know.

Wonderful stuff

Shades of the 1907 version of Ben Hur. Sadly doesn’t seem to work this side of the Atlantic, but that’s what commentary is for, isn’t it. Man scratching butt, eh.

That is priceless

How you dug up that footage, and how it is spot on to my afternoon viewing, is uncanny. For all that missed the race today but are viewing this thread, watch Monty’s clip for about three hours and you’ll see how I spent my day today.

does it seem odd

to have a race on Tuesday afternoon in the US? It’s hard enough getting people to watch cycling in the states, but to put it on a Tuesday afternoon seems odd. I’m not too familiar with the domestic scene, so I’m not sure if this is common or not.

by PopUp Rolen on Jun 3, 2008 2:32 PM EDT reply actions

yeah, most 1 day races are held on weekends

but Philly week has had 3 races for … what 20 some odd years, 2 on weekdays and the big one on Sunday.

of course, stage races have stages during the week

by lyne on Jun 3, 2008 2:44 PM EDT up reply actions

I cannot believe the scene

There are at least 6 motorcycles within 10 feet of the leader, and another 8 between the leader and the group, which is only 10 seconds behind. Seems very dangerous.

For those of you with

connections in the organizer community, let me suggest Joe Jefferson as the name to put forward when someone needs a race announcer. He runs the Antietam Velo Club, day job at Shepherd U, I think. Really good. Makes me wonder how Dave Towle continues to make a living.

One of them

Eddie Van Guyse was the main announcer (and kid stealer? just askin’) who was always on stage. Joe Jefferson (black guy on stage) and Richard Fries (white guy on course) were the other announcers. All are pretty good, but Jefferson is great.

you know that’s why PdC is so cool, a serious discussion about cycling followed by silliness and infatuation with meat.

210 messages...

Is it time for a new thread? :D

Or are we trying to see just how hard we can cram these replies against the right hand wall before we break through into some other sports blog?

And seriously, this thread has done more for this vegetarian’s cause than I could ever have done on my own.

We could just keep going on this one

during tomorrow’s race just to see how far we can push it! :-P

Is there a limit to how far we can push this to the right

before it finally blows and goes back to the left?

that's what we're trying to figure out

Okay I had to google the word, but Mr Sui Juris, did you actually know the lyrics following it?

I think he might secretly sing this song as he rides!

Let’s all join him, shall wee...

I'm all for it

but we should call these guys ahead of time.

tee hee hee!!!

O-good god, Chris just changed the color scheme on us. This will take a few minutes to adjust to!

You two look so happy and ready

to go in the first shot and then in the 2nd you like your cat just died. Too funny. And it looks like you ate the entire thing? ! ?

We need a road trip party for all of us. I can totally supply the brats, burgers, and Al Capone roast!

It was the middle of October...

... and we were in a Bavarian restaurant in Mannheim (couldn’t actually make it to Munich). The look on Matthias’ face (on the right) in the “recovery” phase of the meal says it all I think.

Um, it looks like Matthias

was just euthanized and somehow managed to keep his eyes open. Very impressive none the less.

That's nothing compared to my last day in Germany that trip...

1. Breakfast… eggs, cold cuts and bread, butter and jam, coffee, coffee, coffee
2. Midmorning snack… Bratwurst on a kaiser roll with mustard and a beer
3. Midtags Essen (lunch… sort of)... leak soup with sausage and a slice of cake. and a beer…
4. Post Midtags Essen snack… jambon y fromage crepe. and a beer…
5. Dinner… flamkuchen with aperitifs, roasted roladen in a tomato sauce with roasted potatoes… and beer… cake with coffee… and a Ramazotti… or three.
6. Post Dinner Afterparty… sausage and bread and wine
7. Midnight Snack… two beers and another Ramazotti.

I think I'm gonna be sick just reading all that.

I imagine you passed out for about 2 days after that trip?

You mixed wine with beer and sausage?

What a Hun.

I still don’t see why Jan had such a tough time with his weight. Everything on your list looks completely organic.

by Drew Davis on Jun 4, 2008 2:56 PM EDT up reply actions

Well... mind you I ate most of that in Heidelberg...

... and from what I understand, Jan spent most of his time in Freiburg :)

The way I heard it

Jan ate both Freiburg and Heidelburg.

Any time you attach ‘burg’ to a town’s name, you know there’s going to be trouble.

HeidelBERG but FreiBURG...

... there’s a subtle Teutonic difference. The question is, which *burg has Bettini been consuming!

That would be

this burg.

And I’m spent.

You do realize we could set

this up. I can ship this beast out to you guys and you could tackle it and let us all know how far you get. I’ve seen it at the place and it hurts to look at. I think it’s like 4-5 inches high after they stuff all that in there but I think you can get it cut to length maybe?

I might opt for making...

10 pounds of Carnitas… I don’t dine of anything stuffed with Olives.

This would work great for

brinner too. Nothing better than brinner I say (had some last night after my ride).
