Time to Hunt Down Hotitude!!!
Many of us are missing Benna at Le Tour this year. I think this post warrants a stay a little longer as I think new additions and links are being added daily. And besides we wouldn't want to lose quick glances of Benna just yet.
With just a few more days to go, I think we need to get this post started and get some pics going to show our devotion to noticing more than just good cycling. Ha! With nominations you must try and include a picture. I'm going to leave this top open so to not taint (so giggling) the choices. Have some fun gang and enjoy the fun that this thready should be all about keeping us busy for a couple days!
Maybe by Friday those listed or with the most pics can be put into a poll as we all know how we like us some polls (oh gosh so laughing out loud on that one)! HAVE FUN!

excellent
i really like this thread. it is the best cafe thread ever.
also, i think there will have to be hottitude updates during the tour. very important.
and where’s katiek? she like so the best at this kind of thing.
I wonder if the riders ever lurk here
and think, “Wow. They think I’m hot. Cool.”

HONORABLE MENTION
And not just because I owe Gavia either!!!
Shots 99 right on down to 94 (so on a roll tonight Gavia and I bet you thought I couldn’t do it!):
Thanks to Sui Juris!!!

Thanks to Tifosa!!!
My god, these will never get old to take a look at!
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
i should have thought of this sooner
really, this is the best thing ever. i will have to exact such punishment more often.
and b’sides we need some inspirado for the searching.
My goodness Gavia...
This payback is so going to get the better of me once le Tour starts… In a very sick and sad way I hope someone finds that pick (Note to CRASHDAN here) and posts it just to get me out of this. But onwards… down to #93 (Thanks again to Tifosa):
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
I think Benna is as hot as they come but I thought I'd be kind and
leave his nomination up to you. Wouldn’t be fair to steal your thunder.

I'm happy to help our viewing pleasure. :-)
Have to admit I had not paid any attention before this year to him.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Neither had I
Something has definitely happened to his looks this year. I suppose the Lampre kit doesn’t flatter many people…...
I think that maroon jersey at the Giro really sets off his bronzed skin.
He does have lovely skin.
Just here for the view
And a wonderfully chisled jaw line.
I think the Liquigas green emphasises his tan very nicely (says she examining the vast new Benna picture on the office wall ;-)
Some guy at Santini just went nuts
“What do you mean, we have to design a jersey that emphasizes Bennas jaw line?? How the hell do you do that? “
Oooooooooooooo you've so made my day!
But I’m still in a bad mood about him not being in France. I was hatching a plan to meet him and everything.

imagine this
someone I met last year at the Tour (on the “other” bus, same tour company) is going back this year, they’ll be staying at the same hotel in Alpe d’Huez as CSC and Liquigas apparently – she’s very disappointed about Benna not being there but really hoping to run into Fabian and Pozzato…
I think I may know the same person.....
I was going to go and snoop in the hotel…...(will be in a tent)
Planning it is like a military operation.
My list of things to take will soon actually be metres long, and I have the largest map of the Alps the world has ever seen (so impractical for use in a car!). Can’t wait :-)
oh, and I'm mad at my Aussie friend
who knows I’m a Cadel fan, and neglected to tell me that the Jan-Feb-Mar issue of the Aussie “RIDE cycling review” magazine was the “Style Issue” – Wilson, Lowe, Walker, Cooke, Lloyd, Gerrans, and Evans all dressed up in fancy suits for a photo shoot … (the problem with Flash is you can’t link directly to images so can’t post anything here – but the prior link has a good shot of Walker and Lowe, and if you click on “Features and Racing” another pic comes up of all of them, there were many more in the issue that I happened upon at the local bookstore last week, but couldn’t bring myself to pay $16 for a magazine that was 6 months old …)
Do you think Trent gets a good laugh at his messy hair look?
He probably didn’t do that himself.

Can't forget Cancellara
Must dig up some more once I catch up on the work that piled up while I was out for a week.
The Swiss Bear certainly has something about him...
This is one of my favorite pics this year.
Then here’s a recent one from CSC’s website:![]()
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Do you know
that bear means something completely different over here in Europe.
Here too, Monty, here too.
But the Swiss had a bear (for Bern) long before solid, hirsute guys got liberated from twink & clone oppression [wink].
I am so not using that term going forward.
I always thought it was cute. I need to expand my knowledge of European culture!
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Yeah. There is also a thing called bear porn in the US. For real.
Larger hairy men…. need I say more?
Just here for the view
Ewe Ewe Ewe and then Ick and GROSS.
No pictures of that are allowed on here. Thanks.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
eye of the beholder
I love this site, and this thread and the general welcome here at the cafe. But, have to protest that hottitude is in the eye of the beholder. Take a trip to San Fran where the bears are out and proud (and sometimes cute) as anyone else – and would likely be all about Fabian C’s hottitude. I like women, but lord those tittie shots below don’t do a thing for me—but happy to have the folks that like big mammaries to post them in here.
Not saying that not liking big hairy men is homophobia, but refusing to use the term “bear” again because big hairy gay men have adopted it does generate a small l’ouch from the resident queer in these parts. (Sorry, I’m a long-time reader, verrry infrequent poster, I’m not usually a shrill queer and it doesn’t usually even matter in these parts) I love to ride my bike and I’ve become addicted to following the pros, and I enjoy admiring the hottitude. BUT, the downside of following just about any pro sport is the homophobia. I’m queer and I’m a Frank Schleck fan and then he goes and loses his shit when someone calls him a faggot out in Calif. I’m still a fan, but so totally wish pro athletes could get over themselves and the homophobia.

I think most things in life are relative to the eye of the beholder!
Cippo and Bettini don’t do anything for me but I still love seeing pics of them. As for the “bear”, with the stories I’ve gotten on Fabian the past few years, I have always had cuteness wrapped up in the the ref to the big swiss bear and now… oh man. I have way more issues with people in regards to attitudes and such versus being straight, gay, pink, or purple. Those types of prejudices are just not worth the time for me. I do prefer to not see big 1/2 naked hairy people though. :-) I hope you keep posting and having fun with us!
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
I'm good with that! Any pics of riders or staff of either sex is cool by me.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Yeh
Lotta testosterone in sports. You’ve probably already pondered this, but it’s one thing to overcome personal prejudices; it’s another to get a whole subculture to change collectively.

agreed--make room for everyone here.
This is the web, y’all (or yinz, I should say). If it’s about racing, even tangentially, it ought to get some space here.
However, posting UNRELATED beefcake and cheesecake, regardless of the flavor, would reasonably be frowned upon. If he, she, or s/he (TV, TS, intersex) does amazing things on a bike, they are fair game. Random hot pix and sex sites, whether societally normative or not? Well, no, that’s not really what PC is about. We’re doing a reasonable job of separating the “cyclist lust” posts from the “race” posts.
I personally find about 80% of the “hottitude” shots thoroughly un-stimulating (though I’m not going to cramp anyone else’s style by saying which ones).
For that matter, Jens Vogt is about as close to a “bear” as you’re going to get on the pro-tour, and we regularly celebrate him. If that’s what turns your crank, post him.
BTW, did Frank go apeshit because he didn’t want to be thought of as gay, or because it’s still massively rude in most places to call someone a faggot? I got mighty pissed a month back when someone called me an “fing bulldagger,” and just as pissed when someone called me and my boyfriend “faggots” and threw a bottle at us. I assure you it was not *my homophobia that was making me angry.
(This IS arguably bike-related because I find I get extra grief in bike shorts, or when Pieter dares to wear a pink jersey.)
I apologize. Sincerely.
I didn’t meant to insult, degrade or in any other way seem prejudice against gays or hairy men. I am not being flippant. I am an ardent supporter of gay rights as well as the rights for people of all shapes and sizes to be free of prejudice. Size prejudice is the new “acceptable” prejudice here in America. I hope fat bashing doesn’t start here either.
Looking at my comment I realize I didn’t even think how prejudiced it sounded before I posted it.
Gah. So sorry. I hope this won’t prevent people from joining and enjoying the podium cafe family.
Just here for the view
I only posted that link
because I found that film very funny and rather sweet. A Spanish film not made by Almodovar too.
Having said that, the film you should all be going to see in the States right now (if you can put up with sub-titles) is OSS 117, a lot funnier than Get Smart ever could be.
Monty its all so good! I laughed my butt off when I saw that
and I might now need to check out his one you mention. I am all about the funnies and all!!!
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
And I still don't see what it is with him? Benna is so much sweeter to look at.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Haven't you ever
lusted after a “bad boy?” :-) Girl, you do not know what fantasies you are missing.
60% of the time, it works every time.
Take a look at the link
I posted in the Tom Steels thread of Cipo crashing in the 94 Vuelta. It’s a miracle he kept his looks and his IQ. It’s as bad as Jaja’s in the 95 Tour.
"I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass... and I'm all out of bubblegum."
Wasn't it though?
I am stunned that he wasn’t missing half his face. The first impact looked like he landed fully on top of his head so I don’t know how he walked away from that. At the least he should have cracked a couple of cervical vertebrae.
It’s good to be Cipo.
"I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass... and I'm all out of bubblegum."
I would like to nominate almost all of the rabobank boys
In the goofy-cute, playful-hot category, if there is one. With Ten Dam way on the goofy end. Sorry, link only, so do click: Rabo vogues!
More Ten Dam: goofy cute, or just goofy?

yeah, well
I always think laughing skinny geeks are hotter than beefcake boys. (Remember, I voted for Bettini over Benna; my choices will always be suspect.) I’ll post some for everyone else’s enjoyment, fair enough?
One more for me, though:
I have no problem with your love of Bettini
But I happen to think pics like this so rule…. (Thanks Tifosa!)

We should get chris

Very interesting thread.
I’m secure enough in my manhood to acknowledge Benna’s hottitude.
However, since the title is not exactly gender specific, and If you ladies wouldn’t mind, I’d like to post one of my fave’s courtesy of PEZ.

Sweetie... this thread is here for some fun - have at it!!!
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
um, using the word "cycling" to search,
There are over 988 stories, more than 602 fan posts, and well over 4,000 comments you could instead be reading. So…go for it.
If this (admittedly surface) admiration thread encourages a few disheartened people to get really, really into the tour, how is that a waste? We spent plenty of time encouraging one (1) guy who was depressed because he didn’t have Lance, or a Lance substitute. We seem to have 4 or 5 devoted PC participants who are similarly bummed at being sans Benna. So, explain: how is hottitude less valid than…we’ll call it “national pride,” rather than “jingoism”—as a criterion for getting really into a bike race?
If you want to post a comparison of all the teams’ bikes, that would be very cool. Their gearing choices? Also cool, and instructive. But the bikes don’t win races without the guys, any more than the guys win races without the bikes. Most of the posters here bust their sweet butts every week bringing you actual coverage and analysis. We’re not discussing lipstick—we’re discussing (ahem) “crowd-pleasing quotient” of the racers.
Have you ever written to PEZ to ask that they not put up pix of girls who (often as not) have NOTHING to do with cycling, because it’s off topic? Well, maybe you have, but I suspect not. How about threads on which jersey looks good? Oh, that’s not superficial to the race outcomes, not at all. Lighten up, and find a thread on this site that makes you happy. There are tons and tons of choices.
besides, EVERYONE can use another reminder:
Thin, red bike shorts? No, you probably don’t want to do it. (Unless you would wear a pair of 3-year-old speedos, and you don’t mind causing car crashes.) That, my friends, is a public service to everyone on PC.
Seriously -
This is way more interesting than gearing choices!

PEZ????
Seriously I don’t know what PEZ is…...except the candy dispenser. I just really don’t see the point of admiring a sports athlete because one thinks they are attractive. Aren’t sports about performance? Anyway get on with the fanboy love, I will go find another thread as per your suggestion.
that's fanGIRL to you, mister ;-)
this hottitude, it is very important. a girl can’t live on serious cycling posts alone, you know.
Ha Funny
PEZ = candy dispenser
Exactly! dispensing eye candy for men with their Daily Distraction feature
That is why we must have a male hottitude feature here every now and then.
Colin – you must be new here, you are way too serious. You will be a goofy as the rest of us in few months, give it time. Welcome!
Hi Colin!
Just smile and know that from time to time it’s just about fun. Nothing gets taken away from the incredible knowledge the gang has here and this (as I thought I pretty much stated up top) is all about some fun goofing around while we wait for Saturday. As you’ve noticed it’s just off on the side and no where near the front page and might show up in Happy Hour. It is just meant for some giggles and fun. :-) Welcome though and I hope you enjoy the rest of the house!
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Do you really not know PEZ?
look here.
Their pelopix are wonderful, I enjoy the history posts, the Eurotrash is good (though gavia and co are by now even better) and their toolbox is sometimes insightful. The articles vary in quality, some being fantastic. I’m sure someone gets something out of the “distractions” section.
No tour, but yep that's hot!

If you don't have time to do it right the first time, when are you going to have time to do it again?

Ah well. Just as we have porn to thank for advances in internet tech, we have your coarse ways (I wag my finger at you!) to thank for adoption of all of Podium Cafe’s features . . .
people should go back and recommend the "levi interview" and the "Frank Schleck crash" fanposts
There has been a lot of good new stuff added since they went off the front screen, and that would restore the balance of, if not the universe, at least the PC subject matter.
My appologies in advance

Looks like credit, explicit or implied, was emphatically NOT given for some of these… links may be safer. I’ve gone back and tried to credit a couple of the pix I found by googling. I was under the mis-impression that the “add picture” symbol was linking in the picture, rather than stealing it without clickability, but that’s obviously not the case.
I voluntarily took down the images I posted that were not mine
because there is no way to edit posts here so I could not go back and credit them even if I went through the process of getting permission or even seeing if the owner could be contacted.
