Le Tour Stage 11... LIVE!!
Le Tour Stage 11
Odd stage today: there will be some points battles, both in the KOM and sprints classifications. The big mystery is, who will survive the Col de Portel and make the final run-in? OK, Oscar Freire, but after that...? Might be a good day for a breakaway too. However it goes down, it always seems to be fun. So...enjoy!

wasn't the contract deal
that the teams would be on the hook for EU100k, but the team got to control whether they’d stay or not?

Why do you have “Stage 10 Live” and then under it “Stage 11”? Just curious, or am I being annoying, or have I missed something?
by Hammerhed on Jul 16, 2008 8:46 AM EDT 0 recs
why?
Because it’s very very early at PodiumCafe World Headquarters. But don’t worry, I think they’re in talks to colocate with the UCI in Dubai, next year.

Defending Jersey
Paul’s take is that Lotto now has to defenf the jersey on the flat stages until they get to the Alps and therefore burn the energy, a semi-nonrenewable resource: Why do they have to defend the jersey? Can’t they (in theory) take it back in the mountains or or in the ITT?
by Hammerhed on Jul 16, 2008 8:56 AM EDT 0 recs
I never understand these 'have to defend" comments
And interviews of Frank and Cadel it was obvious both REALLY wanted the Yellow last stage

Of today's break
Botcharov is highest on the GC – 20’47’’ behind Evans.
Needs another 6+ minutes to worry Lotto, so they shouldn’t have to expend too much energy today.

It has something to do with feeling secure
There’s a comment from Bobby J. in Overcoming, something about Jens “knowing who he is” and being comfortable with that. He can put it all out there because he knows who he is.
I’m guessing that’s not common in the peloton. Or anywhere else, really.
