And in a race sadly short on hotitude, Romain Feillu is a pleasant discovery

Are we good with Hotitude slipping out.

This looks to be a good update from it. If not, let me know and I’ll do a revision to move it back but I think I’m good with this new one. :-)

PLEASE... pretty please... :-)

Can we start clicking on the “open in new window” button on the links? When it’s not clicked and we click on the links, we lose the unread identiy of the thread we are in when it goes to the link. I am now finding that I dread hitting a link before I’ve read everything. Then I pray I don’t miss the link when I go back to view.

Just me. I prefer to have a pic or link open in different and leave main thread I’m in alone.

If you use Firefox

you can always just hold down the Ctrl button when you click on a link and it will open in a new tab, or the Shift key and it will open in a new window.

For a long time, this was the only picture I really recalled of Frank. And while his stage win was a great accomplishment, it really wasn’t the best picture.

This year, he’s definitely had some better pictures.

I do approve of the pro’s rolling up their sleeves.

It’s very James Dean/Brando-esque except there’s less cig smoking.

by marian on Jul 23, 2008 3:07 PM EDT reply actions

Any reason more don't wear the sleeveless kit tops?

They have them, why not wear them to help the tan out? Just curious. I don’t see how the little bit of sleeve there is does much during the summer, so why not go sleeveless? Anyone?

"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."

by nikki on Jul 23, 2008 3:13 PM EDT up reply actions

well, I'd say mostly because they look stupid

but then again, look at those kits in the first place . . .

But the real reason is that you’re losing square cm’s that belong to sponsors. Can’t do that.

by Sui Juris on Jul 23, 2008 3:16 PM EDT up reply actions

Is there much on that part of the sleeve?

I thought for the most part they were solid although some kits I’m watching do have some on there. I was just curious if there was some “criteria” or something they “had” to follow for uniformity in the peloton of races.

"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."

by nikki on Jul 23, 2008 3:22 PM EDT up reply actions

Well

I think with USCF races it’s regulated that you have to have sleeves on your jersey (but if you’re racing in Oregon/OBRA races, go ahead and cut those sleeves off, they don’t care!)

Don’t know ‘bout UCI etc.

My desk fluctuates between that level of cleanthliness and the current disaster it has been since I returned from vacation. The doll is Beaker… he is the Assitant Director of Information Technologies on loan from Muppet Labs… all Helpdesk questions are to be directed to him. There is a bottle of Cholula Hot Sauce just in the frame on the same shelf as Beaker; I use hot sauce like Mid-Westerners use A1… there is a tape measure on the shelf because I frequently need to measure out the distances of office space for the un-ending plans to remodel certain offices into cubes and to determine network cable run lengths… above the box of business cards behind the tape measure, is a bottle of “Dreamy Cloud” Sake. On the shelf next to my right elbow is a “Page a day” calendar where every day was a different paper airplane… it took me 7 months to figure out that it was for the previous year.

What you CAN’T see in that picture…

Just past the Cholula is a nerf dart gun that I use to shoot unsuspecting individuals as they pass by my office; as much as I do it, it never gets old. On that same shelf is a framed portrait of me and my Mom; beyond that, an action figure of Kaneda on his motorcycle from “Akira”. Behind Kaneda, is a certificate I printed up naming a former business partner of our firm “Official Pain In My Balls”. Past THAT shelf, is a frame containing the four best Fortune Cookie fortunes I’ve ever gotten… “He who has not tasted the bitter does not understand the sweet”, “Trust other, but still keep your eyes open”, “People find it difficult to resist your persuasive manner” and “For a good cause, wrongdoing may be virtuous”. In the lateral filing cabinets behind me, the top right one contains: an LCD projector, old bills from 2003, a Makita screw gun, two bottles of Amstel Light from last years Fantasy Football draft, an empty bottle of Don Julio and a full bottle of Patron Silver.

The Cholula caught my eye first thing.

Anybody that uses Cholula like A1 is OK in my book! I can’t imagine a world without hot sauce!

I have a question for the Assitant Director of Information Technologies

You’re the real brains in the IT department, aren’t you? Honestly.

Are you sure he's not

the Assistant TO the Director of IT?

He must be of some supervisory importance because he’s obviously in the position of providing constant oversight of crashdan.

Thanks Jens.

I now imagine Drew looking like Beaker. That’s really going to help me stay focused in doing what he tells me to do now. Thanks. Thanks bunches. :-P

Lookin' good Dan! :-)

Can you do me a favor and in a few hours, turn around and snap a photo for me of the sunset. That would be sweet, thanks!

Shhhh... that was supposed to go unnoticed.

I’m pretty sure this is a pic Dan shared awhile back and I love it – so no knocking it. I didn’t have the head that night to save it and don’t remember the thread. I am jealous of those of you that get that kind of view on a regular basis. Truly relaxing.

With a view like that, it makes me wonder...

... why I’m in the hottitude thread looking at a screen that, as a component of it, has a picture of Johan Bruyneel looking like he’s about to ask if that’s my sister and if she’s single.

And no, Johan, I don’t have a sister… and if I did, I wouldn’t let her date the mid-90’s version of you, you leering bastard.

sorry, dude

You most definitely did not have a $100 million weekend this month.

And if you did, there’s this Fondriest frame on ebay that I’d really like . . .

But everytime I see you I feel like a million dollars!

Can’t get you the Fondriest… but I’m sure we can find a second hand white Bianchi with only a few scratches and dents.

Can I borrow 2 million?

I want to start a pro cycling team and I need some seed money. You can have a podium cap signed by the whole team.

Tell him it's a woman's team

and that the seed money is to be used for sign-on bonus funds for any rider from Cervelo Life Force and the money is yours. :-)

Two questions

1. Are we reinforcing the stereotype that most woman watch sports only to ogle the male athletes?

2. Do we care?

By the way, I am filled with excitement for Opening Day of the 2008 Olympic Eye Candy thread.

by ZoeRochelle on Jul 29, 2008 1:40 PM EDT reply actions

Tee hee!

1) Does it matter? – We’re watching!
and 2) Totally nope!

This thread pulled out some fun in the guys too so I say it’s pretty fair and equal. There is notthing(!) wrong with giving props to men and women that look good. :-) The fact that they make it even easier for all of us to watch – kudo’s! And go USA! I was just checking out the bio’s of the team.

That's funny.

They used to do stuff like that on Friday’s before home games (if i recall correctly) and goof around before game time. Funny stuff.

Side note… after being gone almost 3 weeks, the guys here loaded up on the Brett stuff. They even put up a pic of Brett in a Bear’s uniform on my cabinet. I was all Tour viewing and little else and got quite the dose of Brett updates with my 3 days in WI.

Jimbo I think I love you this morning.

What a sweet way to start the morning. Enjoyable links to start and then the two beautiful scenery shots that I would love to see in person. Then a little further – is your daughter not the most adorable little thing? Very sweet pics. :-) Thank you.

by nikki on Jul 31, 2008 9:43 AM EDT reply actions

Thanks

My daughter is a cutie for sure. I didn’t intend to include her in the eye-candy thread, which is a little creepy actually, but the Specialized angel is appropriate I guess… And those scenery shots are part of my regular weekend ride out into west Marin county. If the ToC training camp comes together up in these parts, I will be glad to share

by Jimbo... on Jul 31, 2008 1:26 PM EDT up reply actions

And with that comment I think I hate you... :-P

...regular weekend ride – you suck!
I’m totally kidding and your daughter is a cutie and technically you didn’t post her here, I just love pics so I had to check the rest out, however said angel ties it back, so all is good. Can we assume she (your daughter, well maybe the angel too) takes after the wifey?

I won’t bother with pics from my weekend rides (even without such scenery though, I still can’t wait to get back to them).

Ha!

The dark side of Nikki finally revealed!... My wife is a cutie as well but my daughter looks more like me as far as her coloring, facial features, that sort of thing go, than my wife. But she totally has my wife’s personality (upbeat) and brains (big) more so than mine (sourpuss/average).

by Jimbo... on Jul 31, 2008 2:13 PM EDT up reply actions

Oh Jimbo, you're a sweetie so if you daughter takes after you

at all, she must totally rock too. :-)

LOL! Just noticed I went from loving you to hating you in exactly 4 hours time! Ha ha! :P All darkness hidden, I love you guys here and really love the giggles had and great pics you all share. :)

I hope my visit in February includes some good sunrises and sunsets. At least then I can recall first hand how beautiful it is and then just think of being out there with you guys while biking up and down the canal route I like will be sweet.. :-)

Speaking of the supreme piece of eye candy....

....I understand Benna is doing the Herentals Criterium tonight. This is good because:
1) The achilles must, thank heavens, be on the mend
2) There MIGHT just be a photographer there….

also pics here, but Benna doesn’t appear in the results and I don’t see him in any pics…

How disappointing! I just saw something on Google news saying that Cav would be up against Boonen and Bennati or somesuch. But alas…..

A frozen 'cross ride from this last weekend. As you may be aware we have had siberian conditions here in the UK with a low of -14 degrees centigrade here on saturday morning. It was a beautiful sunny morning so i layered up and set off for a snowy 'cross ride along a roman road. I checked the thermometer when i got back to find it had been -10 throughout the ride! I had a lot of fun though and the views were spectacular.
