Top podium step to all of you.

As always, it’s been a great bit of fun to follow along with everyone here.

I’m off to get a few things done so I can get a ride in before the t-storms.

Many thanks, all.

I love that side view of the sprint

Ciolek’s bouncy headed style is, to say the very least, distinctive. Maybe he’d go a bit faster if they could find a way to stick another pedal on the top of his head.

hmm

i thought it did for all the sprint stages – that is, the gc riders could sit up at 3 km, and get mt.

but eh, these wee details. they make my head hurt ;-)

by Jen See on Jul 27, 2008 12:34 PM EDT up reply actions

That was for

those nasty sprints in the Giro. and it made the results confusing as hell to read.

by Monty. on Jul 27, 2008 12:36 PM EDT up reply actions

yes

heh, did they change the rules again when i wasn’t paying attention? because they did write a rule after all the crashes at the tour a few years back that gc riders get mt at 3 km in the sprint finishes. heh, i’m dreaming. i must be dreaming.

by Jen See on Jul 27, 2008 12:42 PM EDT up reply actions

No you aren't dreaming

If there’s a crash within the last 3km then everyone is given the same time (such as Stage 2 last year) – but only on a flat stage – coz as we saw when Schumacher crashed and lost yellow at Super Besse – the rule didn’t apply there because it was an uphill finish

Otherwise it’s quite frightening how much of a curse we seem to have put on anyone else we chose.

4 Robbie McEwen (Aus) Silence – Lotto
5 Thor Hushovd (Nor) Crédit Agricole
6 Julian Dean (NZl) Team Garmin-Chipotle p/b H30
7 Stefan Schumacher (Ger) Gerolsteiner

A frozen 'cross ride from this last weekend. As you may be aware we have had siberian conditions here in the UK with a low of -14 degrees centigrade here on saturday morning. It was a beautiful sunny morning so i layered up and set off for a snowy 'cross ride along a roman road. I checked the thermometer when i got back to find it had been -10 throughout the ride! I had a lot of fun though and the views were spectacular.
