Breaking: Fofonov positive
According to a brief notice in l'Équipe, Dimitri Fofonov of Crédit Agricole has tested positive for a stimulant. The positive came after the 18th stage of the Tour finishing at Saint-Etienne. Professional since 1998, Fofonov has four victories in his career, and was sitting 19th in the general classification. In a public statement, he said he had muscle cramps and used a supplement bought on the internet to ease them. Roger Legeay, DS of Crédit Agricole, emphasized that Fofonov broke team rules by taking anything not approved by the team doctors. The team suspended Fofonov with immediate effect.
See tuttobiciweb for the team response.

this could probably be the end of Credit Agricole team, I don’t see how they can get a new sponsor now.
