Around SBN: An Explanation For Some Of The Perplexing HOF Snubs

Of Hammers and Fatties

A3_medium

Your chance to drop some industrial grade Craftsmen clawhammers on the seven time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong is around the corner.  Lance Armstrong has signed up for the Leadville 100 this coming August 9th.  Let's hope that this time there are no schedule conflicts and that Mr. Floyd Landis decides to show up as well.  In case you're wondering this is not the first time the Triathlete/Road Champion/Marathon Runner/Marathon MTBer has thrown his hand into the dirt pot.  Way back in 1999 at Mt. Snow Lance decided to get some skills training in for the year at the NORBA nationals.  He came across the line sixth 3 minutes behind Travis Brown that year.  It seems he has also been doing some closet training in the form of competing in a local marathon race at the beginning of the year.  Your local Home Depot awaits.

We'll see

I’d be surprised by a top 10 finish. Then again (from what I understand) ,it’s not terribly technical. So that would be a plus for him. Anyone here ever done it?

I don’t think Landis is racing at all. He’d started the National Ultra Endurance series, placed 26th in the first event, DNF’d, the second, and DNS’d the third. Nothing after that (which also coincides with the CAS decision).

~

And I think I’ve just realized that there’s no way I can pull off the SM100 this year. Suckage.

Callup

The promoter is talking about a front row callup for him. It’d be awfully embarassing to get a callup and then get popped somewhere on the course. He’d have to do some training somewhere other than Texas for that race. It’s got some altitude that’ll put a hurt on your power.

Aspen

The article I read about him appearing claimed he was training in Aspen to acclimatize.

Ah

The Leadville 100 is USA Cycling sanctioned this year. So no Landis for sure (recall the confusion over that last year, and the trouble it caused).

Rememer that

Yep, during that period he was waiting on the USADA decision. Now that CAS has ruled, then it’s no question there won’t be a Landis call up.
