On posting photos
Hi, all. I'm sure I'll be terribly embarrassed at the schoolmarmishness of this tomorrow, but right now I'd like to just post a brief reminder that it's important to (at least) credit photographers when posting their work. I know this is the web, that everyone else is doing it, etc., but it takes a lot of work (time, effort, and money) to get a lot of those shots. The very least we can do is make sure that they're recognized for the work they've done.
Ideally, when you repost a photo here, you'll have the permission of the photographer (you'd be amazed at how easy that is to get). If that's too much, at least link to the original source and credit the photog. Many many thanks.
(BTW, this is just a personal request. Nothing more. )

it's fascinating to see where my pics sometimes end up
or the search that brings folks to my blog… sometimes it’s scary

oh, for sure
Unless I’m pretty sure I’m getting paid for it, I put most of my stuff out there under a Creative Commons NC-Attribution license. And yet folks can’t even bother with the attribution. I’m not asking for anything but recognizing who made it, and they still can’t do it!
Ah well. Not the end of the world (for me, anyway), but still something I’d like to see change.

oh, but speaking of blog searches
Some of my top searches?
Sexy Beijing (never been. Just liked the show.)
Liz Hatch (natch)
Bombay/Mumbai hookers (really. never even wrote about ‘em, but that’s what gets you to my site.)

I hope I've always given you both credit for your pics!
I usually link to you when I use them on my blog and I’m pretty sure I have always put under the pic your names. I will admit though when I pull quick ones off of a google search though I am not as faithful unless I can see that they are from someone’s photo bucket or personal gallery. If its from AP type sources I openly admit I am not always good but I promise to make a much better effort…. :-)

no worries. I've forgotten quite often myself - especially when on the hunt for hotties it seems.

I started out good with the hotties thread giving thanks to both Sui Juris and Tifosa
but later on was slacking. Although for what it’s worth most others were pulled from team sites and I think I mentioned it on most. But again, I am so thankful you guys are out there with cameras to share with us, that I will be making a better effort. I heart what you guys do and you both do it extremely well so I never mean to not applaud with full credit! :-)

no worries at all
this is not personally directed at anyone. (For real. Believe me, I don’t have the slightest problem with personally attacking people.) Just a general global reminder, is all.

I was hoping I wasn't supposed to take it personally, as I didn't... :-)
But it is a good reminder and one I’ll be attempting to uphold. Although during a live thread I say we get time to go back later and give credit. Tee Hee! :-)

Good reminder!
When I went to photobucket.com to post my Giro pictures, I found that someone had pulled two of the pictures I’d posted here and posted them as their own. I looked at the person’s other pictures, and saw that they were mostly pictures of movie and tv stars, so maybe the poster wasn’t really trying to pass the pictures off as his or her own, but still, it was a bit disconcerting to see my pictures with the caption “photo by [someone other than me].”

my bad
I figured that if the site asks for a link, to post the photo, that clicking on the photo would bring people back to that link, or at least display the link. So I tried going back and clicking on what I’d posted, to no avail. I would have to re-do all the searches to find the links. Anyway, from now on, the link goes up with the picture, without fail. Sorry for the Ass-u-me problem.

yes, good message (nice crash photo too!)
Always a bit bizarre when I see one of my photos being used by someone else …. but it must really suck for professional photographers.
My solution is to use my own photos …. usually not as good as others but more fun that way.
Although sometimes I bring along a friend to photo me :)
