PrintAccording to Sudres, media director for the TdF, in the article: they can't rewrite history, therefore they will recognize him as the winner but with (the infamous) asterisk.
The past is done for me so I'm more okay with the decision than not. Maybe because I assume many were doing it and with out confesions we may never know and at this point, I'm moving on. I like what he's done with CSC and personally enjoyed following them the past 3 years while C was on the team. Now my only question, does he get the jersey back?

Sadly, I think they had no choice
Imagine they stripped his title and started awarding it to the next rider ….
Unless they can be certain he wouldn’t also be exposed, they open themselves up to ever growing ridicule.
It’s not hard to imagine the entire Top 10 was doping.
