JENS!

"I am being saved for something special," smiled Voigt. "I am like a tightly coiled spring and I'm just waiting for Bjarne to pull the trigger and release me and then - bam, I will explode into the race."

Jens!

Why doesn’t someone just follow him all day with a camera? He needs his own at-home show when he retires, like the Osbournes.

Brilliant!

I wonder what his family is like. I’ll bet he has a crazy brother.

One more thought

He might take yellow this week. Why not? Super Besse would be a good place for him to attack.

Still pathetically wondering

if anyone knows what his 5th child was. The one born with some trouble last November. Anyone? Anyone?

Vanity Fair

Has the answer:

...die beiden Söhne Marc und Julian, die Töchter Kim-Helena, Adriana und Maja…

Well, at last.

Thank YOU, Figurehead.

Come on... Lipsum as filler copy?

Where’s the passionate love of hotdogs?

When Leipheimer is done mating with his Time Trialing bike... does he bite its head off and eat it?

It seemed appropriate for JENS!

Lorem Ipsum is from a classical piece of literature by Cicero called “The Extremes of Good and Evil” and the passage used is about pain and suffering. The opening roughly translates to “There is no one who loves pain itself, who seeks after it and wants to have it, simply because it is pain…”

Besides, I don’t have much to say about hotdogs.

Jens! quote from VS today...

regarding how to motivate himself for the TT… “the mind has to rule the body and tell the body ‘shut up and do what I tell you to do’ and it works every now and then… and then sometimes you just try to bluff and sometimes that works as well…”

Nice

None of this would be half as funny if you couldn’t mimick his voice in your head. God bless “Overcoming.”

I love his accent!

My next door neighbor has a similar one, and I always think of Jens! when talking to him.

Jens! still hungry

says he’s ready to sign with Bjarne for an additional year. He has a contract until end of next year but would like to renew until 2010.

by Jens on Jul 9, 2008 7:51 AM EDT reply actions

I wish he would talk to Zabel

and convince him to sign there too until 2010. The peleton needs both guys riding for as long as humanly possible.

What is it about former East German cyclists, documentaries, and humor? Jens is well documented in Overcoming, but Rolf and Erik in Hell on Wheels both come off funny as hell too. I love the part in Hollentour after Rolf takes the Maillot Pois and laments that each spot cost him a year off his life. And then Ete reminds him that ”...last year when you broke your rib, I didn’t give a shit.” delivered in that totally deadpan tone he can adopt. Classic.

"I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass... and I'm all out of bubblegum."

by Drew Davis on Jul 9, 2008 8:51 AM EDT up reply actions

That was classic

they seemed to have a real good camraderie. Zabel talking on the cell phone in the same scene is funny too calling Rolf an old “Anklamper” (Wheelsucker).

Back to topic, would love to see Jens going for it today, but fell its more likely that Frank goes to make up some time. Maybe Jens goes first like in Switzerland and Frank goes over the top if/when he is fading. However there is a strong possibility that there are a lot of guys who want to attack today and the will cancel each other out, like they do on the Poggio.
