They showed an anmation of the course but it wasn’t clear where the finish line was.
I have a Canadian in the start house
and she’s off!

Chef!
Did you see the Isaac Hayes video linked to by Atrios yesterday? Man, what a wardrobe…

I am so glad someone remembers me
(And I’ll note that it wasn’t anyone from that fruity little club!)
~
Dude, an icon.
this should be fun
back in 90 minutes… time to hit the trainer. i’m definitely cueing up the Cholet ITT to get in the spirit. or at least to work on my positioning. See y’all in a bit.

So what brand bike is the Chinese rider on?
Just spinning the pedals in the hills of Western Maryland
It's always a shock
after seeing the pros set up on branded kit outside a branded bus, to see someone just drop a set of rollers down beside the crowd barrier to warm up.
I'm sticking to one with TV split on two channels... :-)
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
She's really tiny
not good if it gets blowy downhill.
The dead silence of the ride and the sudden rise in crowd noise is bizzarre!

Unless you have crooked teeth
And then you don’t get to play.
Apparently the girl who sang during the opening ceremonies was lip synching to another girls voice. The real singer was deemed to unattractive.
just read that earlier
also heard something about fake fireworks… how does that work?

dense moment
fake as in faked for the video broadcast… aha

kind of a non-story
I think. It was pretty much labeled as such during the ceremony. They actually DID send off the fireworks, but those of us playing at home got a prerecorded version.
i read it was because of atmospheric conditions aka smog
they recorded it on a clear night just in case

Yep, Chinese are on Giants
as are the French too.

just dropped in :-)
no nbc feed for me, my isp is blocking it. i gotta wait for the nefarious internet sources to yield up their secretz.
Well poops on that.
Too bad we couldn’t stream it to you.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
did you try a different zip and cable co for that little box that pops up?
by ZoeRochelle on Aug 12, 2008 11:57 PM EDT up reply actions
blocked at the ISP
Not by NBC. A different zip won’t help. It’s all a ploy to get someone to shell out money
yes
the isp is blocking the feed from that website. it isn’t blocked all the way, just slowed waaay down. they do that sometimes for other things too – specifically file sharing sites. just one of those things.
Megabeth thinks that
NBC could have gotten Bobke commentary for this for $20 plus a couple of hookers. I am shocked and appalled.
I love Bobke. Never forget the nude commercial.

Amy Winehouse?
"I won! I won! I don't have to go to school anymore." -- Eddy Merckx, after winning his first bike race
she has truly fabulous form
on the bike, and an amazingly smooth pedal stroke. i could watch her ride all day. she looks like that on a cross bike, too, which is even more impressive.
Isn't life unfair
being tall, blonde and Swedish should be enough for anyone in this world
from NBC
Vos is pushing hard, like she really, really wants a medal after the disappointment in the road race.
So it looks like no splits on this race
Did we get them (or time gaps) on the RR?
Just spinning the pedals in the hills of Western Maryland
That's a relief
I was getting very confused.
Thanks, just figured that out after the Chinese rider
I’m not normally working this hard while watching a race. Damn this vacation!

Hey Sui Juris...
Are you okay with the butts tonight? Or are you still troubled?
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
For the record
I am very comfortable with my preferences. I was just a bit surprised, is all. MJ and I are still processing.
No Cheering... or very little.
Must be a very lonely ride.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Did we just witness and police man clapping?
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Is it me or are the Chinese trying to yell "China! China! China!"
in English as the Chinese rider goes by?

Hey Sui Juris, is MegaBeth napping so she can take over for the men's butts?
by ZoeRochelle on Aug 13, 2008 12:20 AM EDT up reply actions
I didn't watch
when I held for Alex Wrubleski at the start of a local time trial a few weeks ago. I was completely professional in the dispensation of my duties. I was! I would not be distracted.
Can I ask...
If they ever show that they were like 12 and not 15-16, do they lose the medals?
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
My eyes are sleepy and I did not read that as "Tuck".
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
She's medaled in every olympics she's been in
Pretty damn impressive. I would’nt be surprised if she took a podium spot. OK, may I would be, but it would be cool.
it seems a neverending battle for third . . .
having changed hands what, a half dozen times already?
the commentator just wrote that Thuring is within spitting distance of Pooley
I find that very funny
She looked like a dominator on the climb in the road race
It’d be a well deserved medal if she gets one here.
think it was mentioned
at the NYTimes blog story on this, over the weekend. Former racer with a blog . . . anyone recall?
looks like you can't
just tried.
And clearly, not the person I was thinking of (with the “I’m told from the pros” stuff).

Uncouth cheering to Cooke from the car. State approved? Seems out of place. It’s just so quiet out there.

Commentary in nbc player?
So I have the Commentary window open in the nbc player, but it’s just been a black, empty box for like five or ten minutes. Am I missing something?

That Home Depot
Olympian employment program is a cool thing. One of the few lasting result of the Atlanta games . . .
context:
NBC box mentioned that Kristin Armstrong did that, working in the paint department for a while.
Thorsten needed to catch Cooke
Oh well still a good run

so possible magic 8 ball

Pooley set the time to beat early
and held off all comers (but a big margin) until Armstrong beat her by 24 seconds. Everything else is details.
All rode TT bikes
Couldn’t really say how the mens will be from this.
I like all the stuff on her helmet
I thought it looked cool
