Looks like a fun race to follow

I love it when they do bike races on car race tracks.

Thanks for posting the photos from this and the previous stages.

Nice Photos...

These photos link to a gallery of other shots…upon looking at all the photos it seems the podium girl at some point presented the race winner with a small child.

Yeah, that's Jeff Louders Daughter.

The kid… She came very close to stealing Jeffs moment as she clapped, smiled and cheered here daddy. It would be very Utah to hand teh race winner a kid though… ;)

Only Disappointment...

…was that the crowds for this year’s race were not as large as in 2006. But that year, there was a retailers convention going on that put a captive audience on-site. Media coverage was a little lackluster, too, but SLC did host the Winter Olympics in 2002 so it’s no surprise there was so much attention on Beijing.

The olympics are a pretty big shadow

Both in terms of people noticing the race is going on and coming out for it and media space. Man, there’s a lot of Olympic obsession going around. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but it isn’t too surprising they’d have trouble drawing crowds at Utah this year. Here’s hoping it does better next year. Very pretty race to look at, and it’s nice to see a new race with some good climbing on the calender.

There was a solid crowd for the SLC crit Friday night..

and fair attendance up the Alpine Loop KOM. I actually heard they were discouraging folks from going to the top of The Alpine Loop because of the one lane road and teh very tigh access. It was very quiet on the streets. It was sad to see there were only 5 or 6 of us in Midway, Saturday as the race drove right down main street. I know that promo got a late start because there was some question of whether or not all the sponsorship was going to come through.

I like that

top shot, esp. I can feel the heat.

~

Nice podium, too. Less scary than most of the boxes I’ve seen.

Red jersey, red stripes on the pavement, blue sky. Beauty.

I love that first shot

shame about the car and bike behind.

Funny

but to me, without the follow car and chase bike that is just another cyclist on a road photo…. Just the photographers .02.

i like the car

i like the way the car and the moto make the perspective wrap. there’s a cool sort of arcing line in that shot. that, and the car is the same color as the guy on the bike and the stripey pavement. nice, that.

A frozen 'cross ride from this last weekend. As you may be aware we have had siberian conditions here in the UK with a low of -14 degrees centigrade here on saturday morning. It was a beautiful sunny morning so i layered up and set off for a snowy 'cross ride along a roman road. I checked the thermometer when i got back to find it had been -10 throughout the ride! I had a lot of fun though and the views were spectacular.
