Zabriskie just went through the first lap finish. The video and audio coverage at justin.tv is up and down, not very reliable for me…
Might have to do with the shin.
Looked pretty painful. Hopefully good ride tomorrow.

Hiya, friend, all is well in my little corner of the world, how about you!?
I’m trying to watch (inhale) three races this morning/afternoon before I take off for the weekend, and am just loving it!
Happy to hear!!!
Watched this now need to run to watch some local football fun. Hope to catch on demand later for Vuelta.
Great to have you back today!!! Missed you!

And our Garmen take four of the top five spots, even w/o Danny:
1 David Zabriskie (Team Garmin-Chipotle p/b H30) 40.39
2 Tom Zirbel (Bissell Pro Cycling) 0.05
3 Christian Vandevelde (Team Garmin-Chipotle p/b H30) 0.10
4 Steven Cozza (Team Garmin-Chipotle p/b H30) 0.36
5 Thomas Danielson (Team Garmin-Chipotle p/b H30) 0.52
That should make up for screwing the calculations up
over in Ireland.
Nathan said it would be - let's hope!!!!

from the little audio I got, I see that O'Neill is still a pretty bad commentator
didn’t even know that Levi wasn’t racing
DZ
i was on the course where the riders go by three times per lap for a total of nine passes. and let me tell you, dz was COOKING on the final pass of the final lap.
it was stunning being out there on the road. zirbel came by looking like he was on reserves, but kicking hard, and then DZ came into the final stretch with so much more juice than his previous passes it was just … amazing.
at least he had an earpiece this year. nothing tops last year’s finish, where he came into the final stretch without any radio support and totally unaware that pate had apparently beat him until he heard the s/f announcer screaming like mad. barely pulled it out, he did.
this year’s five seconds is a breeze by comparison.
Audio Problems
The bad audio could have been a result of the blaring volume from the main stage announcers. Then again, when Tommy D. was being interviewed, one of the live chat users complained they couldn’t hear him. So I moved the microphone closer to his mouth. Who knows what the volume was like for the other guests?

couldn't hear Southerland at all and Danielson was quite faint
I had the audio turned off most of the time (when it worked) because he wasn’t really talking about the race anyway
US Pro TT day pics
Here are some shots of today’s TT and in the pits at the race hotel. Note the wide selection of bikes in the RR crowd. Rock and BMC were the only two teams out at the race hotel today. I’ve not seen where Garmin/Chipotle or Columbia are staying this year:
Glad to see Tim Duggan finished
this was his first race back after his head injury, I believe (and the only race he’ll be doing for the rest of the season)?
yes
it is his first race back, but he isn’t planning to do any road racing. just this crono. apparently, he still can’t train long and consistently enough for road racing, only for the shorter effort of the crono.
great to see him back on the bike. that crash was nasty.
yep, nasty crash
Duggan already has a blog entry up about the TT

was going to say as well
for sure, TT’ing is shorter so easier to train for … but also there’s less chance of crashing into someone else in a TT vs a RR if the balance and coordination isn’t quite 100% after a head injury (which can always be a concern – subtle things that might not be noticed in other aspects of life – not saying that Duggan is having such problems, just speaking in general terms), plus even if someone is actually back to 100% cognitive function after a head injury you just don’t want to have another one within the first year or so (I think, can’t remember offhand) as the risk of death from a 2nd head injury so soon is significant …
