Tour Of Missouri Teams Announced

GARMIN-CHIPOTLE And LIQUIGAS Head a list of teams added to complete the TOUR OF MISSOURI field

Star-divide

From The Tour Of Missouri Website:

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (August 4, 2008) – Team Garmin-Chipotle of the United States and Team Liquigas of Italy---two top-performing entrants from the recently completed Tour de France---head a list of 13 teams that have been added for the Tour of Missouri world-class cycling event, September 8th – 14th, throughout the Show Me State.

I will be at every stage of this race and will be lucky enough to get a unique perspective on the race and the organization required to run it. More on that this evening after I get home from work.

No even better

try this on for size:

a volunteer position has been reserved for you on the traveling course marshal staff for the 2008 Tour of Missouri! Congratulations and welcome!

The best part about this is my travel and hotel are now covered and I will have to chance to see how it all works from the inside. I am incredible excited!! Hopefully we use the same hotels as the riders. I plan on doing daiiy reports on what it is like.

It actually occurred to me the other day that Astana wouldn't be there

since their US guys will be at the Vuelta. (Of course, that’s just Levi now that Horner is injured…)
Levi also won’t be able to contest the USPro race.

I too am surprised that Sexy bank is not going

not so much by the absence of Astana as they also did not participate in Philly Week

CSC, Astana, Garmin, and Columbia: so many choices

Lets see: The calendar for September has the following big races:

1) the Vuelta Aug 30- Sept 21

2) the Deutchland/Vattenfalls/Poland triad. I call them a triad because traditionally there’s a big overlap of riders between the three races. Deutchland is Aug 29 to Sept 6th. Vattenfalls is the next day, Sept 7. Poland is Sept 14- 20. All three of these UCI Pro Tour races.

3) The Tour of Britain is Sept 7-14.

4) Tour of Missouri is Sept 8-14.

Honestly no team can field decent teams in all of thee races. So they have to pick and choose.

Columbia is skipping the Vuelta. They will be at the Deutchland triad and Missouri and Britain.

CSC is skipping Missouri. they will be at the Vuelta, Deutchland triad, and Britain.

Astana is skipping Britain definitely. Interestingly they have Missouri on their calendar so we’ll see about that. They are participating in the Deutchland triad and Vuelta.

Garmin wasn’t invited to the Vuelta or Deutchland. They will be in Britain and Missouri.

Missouri is in a crowded neighborhood.

I guess Saxo Bank

isn’t concerned about targeting the midwest US markets.

Looks like a great lineup

I’m sure the smaller domestic teams are going to be going balls out to make a big impression, especially the Toyota and Symmetrics guys. They will be needing jobs REALLY soon.

Ought to be a really good

battle between VDV and Hincapie. The TT favors a climber/TT’r as it takes in some pretty good hills in southern Mo. Should be a really good course for VDV.

I hadn't heard he was going to go to Missouri

Sweet! I’m sure the Garmin boys won’t get a moment of rest while they are there. I’m sure he’s gonna put the hurt on some legs.
