Opening Ceremony Chatter

I thought I would start a thread for anyone wanting to chat while we watch the Opening Ceremony. I love the Olympics and love watching the teams walk in. Instead of hopping on all the other threads, I thought one just for this would work. If Chris has something else lined up, feel free to zap this one out. Happy Olympics Everyone!!! Here's to a beautiful evening of pure enjoyment. Let the games begin...

The drum think was incredible.

The play on lighting and precision… I’m in awe.

I should be ashamed to admit

I spent a lot of the morning following the opening ceremony live with friends who were watching it in Europe and searching for pics on Getty pics

by Katiek on Aug 8, 2008 8:16 PM EDT reply actions

Why ashamed?

If you get to watch this twice? So far I’m just in awe of the beauty they’ve put on and were just getting started.

And heck

I’ve had almost two weeks of productivity at work in the mornings since the TDF ended, I don’t want it to get out of hand!

by Katiek on Aug 8, 2008 8:21 PM EDT up reply actions

Tee hee hee... I had the day away from work

but it’s been a steady 11-13 hours a day since I returned after the appendicitis thing. A day away was awesome.

nah, this is fantastic

I am the most olympic-cynical MF’er you will meet, and I’m glued to it. I know how hard each one of these people out there have worked to be there. There’s no bad in that.

But I may quit watching soon

to take a nap before the road race starts. I have to drive my parents to an event tomorrow and can’t really afford to stay up all night.

And so far that commercial just took the lead. Way to go Hank. :-)

Bad news Steph...

... with Paul and Morgan out, no competitors from Ninja Warrior are at the 2008 Olympics. Not Shunsuke Nagasaki (Trampoline: came in 13th in qualifying), not Bunpei Shiratori (Triple Jump: guy’s 40 years old), not Paul Anthony Terek (Decathlon: torn meniscus) and not Daisuke Nakata (Trampoline: can’t recover from hit-and-run accident).
