Tour of Missouri Final Stage Live
The race is going on despite the remnants of Hurricane Ike battering St. Louis this morning. The circuit has been altered due to flooding in one are of the original course. Course today is 53miles with 5 circuits around St. Louis. There are some time bonuses today so Garmin has to watch Michael Rogers closely.
Live video free on UniversalSports.Com.
We are live! Looks like the weather is ok. Roads are dry. Garmin to the front immediately. Immediately riders trying to get a break away.

The Italians had a big debate on that during the Giro
someone asked if it should be pronounced leaf eye mer
Cavendish in the hunter green points leader jersey.
Its hard to pick him out of the group. Yesterday I couldn’t pick him out of the sprint groip to the finish even though he won.
The tents set up the night before
were all down after the storm flew through. One of the guys I was talking to today said they had to pull them off the buildings. There were tree limbs still down around the start area.

Kirk O'Bee (Health Net p/b Maxxis) and Jeremy Powers (Jelly Belly Cycling Team)
are about 15 sec off the front
I think he being groomed for bigger things.
Probably the Start-Finish line.
I googled it, it must be true.
I don't know if they are actually disqualified. Sometimes they just stop riding and get a time penalty.
I googled it, it must be true.
Big gap - 2 minutes
Tailwind now, look out for the head wind portions of circuit.
I googled it, it must be true.
I thought about it for one of the KOM's
I was at but was not sure how that would go over and didn’t see any others.
Then of course on the rolling hills day I saw a few things. Some planning for next year for sure!

The reversed baseball cap looks naff
from the moment you hit your teens. I hope there’s a good reason behind that picture.
It was great having the family there
the past two days. Grandma was there too!

Gap at 2:55
Peloton not chasing, getting close to half way mark of race.
I googled it, it must be true.
It's nice to be able to catch up so easily
Thanks for starting things off.
Remember that stage in the tour where the riders knew they were on tv and
they were acting like they weren’t racing anymore. Well I’d love to see these guys pull it off. The clock doesn’t lie though.
I googled it, it must be true.
It's unfortunate that these guys can't tell us how much distance is left.
But then again it never seems like they care.
I googled it, it must be true.
Kirk O'Bee takes off from break partner.
Leaves Jeremy Powers in dust.
I googled it, it must be true.
Can see the whites of peloton's eyes.
15, 12, 10, 7, 5, 4, second lead.

Right hand turn, Liquigas!!!!!
Cicci, Chichi, chicchi,…. whatever wins the race.

Difficult to see on the video
What with Cav being in green too, and the resolution a bit fuzzy.
I was expecting Cavendish so I wasn't thinking too much about it until he flew by.
Only knew it wasn’t Cav when I saw that Pee green. ; – )
I googled it, it must be true.
I couldn't differentiate between the riders
once they went to the finishing line camera. Fuzzy green blob 1 beat fuzzy green blob 2.
out on a limb but
ToM has to be about the most boring stage race this side of Qatar…
yawnfest, bigtime.
I hear ya,
If Georgia has trouble, Missouri can’t be far behind. The state gov’t is backing the race one more year and then they are on their own. So far I haven’t seen a signature stage that would come close to rivaling Brasstown Bald. Same company, Medalist Sports, promoting the race so what can they do for Missouri that they couldn’t do for Georgia?
I googled it, it must be true.
The peloton stayed in a large group for the first two days.
Then the TT, then the breakaway day, then a rolling day and then a sprinting kind a day. The last stage was the only one that needed some excitement being there live for me. I loved the race and the fans there sure did. I would think all ToC, TdG, and ToM all get similar responses from those attending.
One serious plus I give ToM is that it was easy to get to and from everything. I made the start and finish everyday and at least one stop along the way to cheer on the guys. Most days it was at least two stops. I’m not sure that can be done as easy at the other two. I’m biased having just come from watching it but it was a great time.

agreed that ToM is very spectator friendly
it’s very difficult to do the jumping in some of the other stage races when mountains are involved. okay time to pack, fly home and then post all the stuff I still have including more photos
