Stupid Question du Jour???

Next year, my VDS team will be Team Ocean Pacific and will mostly be made up of OP suspects.

Valverde, Contador, Basso!!!

Now the main question is:

Is HWMNBN worth only 1 point? Same for Basso?

Chris, pray tell!!!

I read somewhere that they believed that Armstrong would be riding the 2009 Tour under a Team LiveStrong- he has an announcement on the 25th!

Did I see the future?

So how does that work? Lance dials up Prudhomme and says "Yo Chuckie, I got the Motts!" "You got the Motts, Ahh, then welcome back!"

ok...

how about six for basso and six for strongarm?

You’re taking a chance with both of them.

What about Floyd?

Floyd?

How many VDS races is he likely to get invited to?

by Monty. on Sep 16, 2008 3:15 PM EDT up reply actions

Quite possibly

none.

Make LA a onepointer

Then everyone will take him and his results will have no effect on the outcome of the VDS. (A.K.A. The Kroon Factor)

Ok, fuck it. I'm sticking with principles.

I will not have him on my team.

You should read

Lance Armstrong’s War instead. A little more insight into ‘things’ than the above title.

It has a pretty unbiased feel to it as well.

I'll vouch too. It was a good read and quick.

Do NOT let your trainer make you read his 2nd book. I did like not about the bike but the 2nd one left me wishing I had not read it.

That's a tough one

Andy could be like a lot of us here, already well versed in the William Shatner School of Excellent Over-Acting before they started following cycling. Or he could be blatantly ripping of us.

Either way I’m good with it :-)

Lance, , Basso, Landis

Honestly making them one pointers is…. stupid. NOT that you folks are stupid! Hell- you are all above average and pretty. But I don’t see that we have to go strictly by what CQ says for the year before and in fact there were a couple exceptions to that rule this year. Also- not everyone took Kroon. Nor did anyone think that Kroon could have the impact of a 16 point rider. He was just a high value 2 pointer and many folks wouldn’t have taken him if he was say 8 points or 6. Even 4.

So there.

So Basso, Lance, and Floyd need to be priced where they are enticing to some.
Basso should have a high value- 16 or 18 I say. If he does what Leeky wants him to do he’s win the Giro at least and thus to price him lower would make him such an obvious bargain.

If Floyd signs with Health Net he could be a 1 pointer or a 2 since which VDS races might he even race in? nada.

Lance is the hard one as we don’t know his abilities now but he’s quite popular with the Drew wannabes. ;) If this were Vegas we’d start him off at 16 and see his value rise or fall and adjust accordingly. (That would be cool to do with all the riders, actually. Yeah I know we don’t have the time to do that.) So put Lance at 16 or 14 or even 12 as I think more folks here will be skeptical of him than Basso. Hell again- we dont; even know of Lance’s team yet. If he does this Team Livestrong thing he won’t be at many VDS races.

I'd say

stick Basso at 18, Lance at 16 and make people really roll the dice.

Jury is out on Floyd until we see who he goes to, but I’m leaning with Ursula in making him a low pointer since he most likely won’t race outside the states more than a few times, if at all.

Or Basso for that matter?

Not a VDS race this year

A nasty little trap where you look at rider x and think “ooh, he’s doing well,” stick him on your team and slowly realise that his season peaked in February.

And never will be

It’s too early. Call it VDS spring training, which you can use to help formulate your final rosters before Het Volk.

Basso is on cycling’s good graces. A year of Giro than back to the big stage.

I don’t think Floyd will ever find a big team again so the point’s moot.

My anti-doping strategy hasn’t worked out in the VDS. Nor, apparently, has using dirty Walt Whitman quotes for the team name.
