So smiley, Vandevelde and Cavendish at the start.
"Columbia started the race out Monday and Tuesday with Mark's spirited wins, Wednesday turned things around a lot. Actually, I didn't really expect to win the time trial but I really liked the course, it was a beautiful time trial down in the hills by the Ozarks. Then from there on, it was game on, it was a bug war with everyone trying to throw everything at us, trying to take away the 21 seconds that I had from the time trial and it was a great race. I was thinking about it today that I was happy that they did give us such a fight because it means that much more to win this week. " said Christian Vande Velde, after the stage.

"I was behind the train of Columbia and I came around with 200 meters to go, I decided to launch my sprint because Toyota-United riders in front didn't seem to want to launch it, so I launched with 200 meters. I probably surprised Mark going out so early with a headwind and that probably game me an edge. Fortunately for me, Mark was not able to come back on me. " said Francesco Chicchi through a translator.

Spelling pedant alert
I’d normally let things pass, but no way do you call him Cheeky. It’s just wrong.
Great photos, especially the first one. Do you do clever little tweaks in Photoshop to make the riders stand out, or is it just that you are much better at taking photos than me?
fixed
d’oh. i actually never knew he had two h’s. spelling, so not my strong suit. it would probably help if i’d heard bulba or cassani talk about him at some point. anyway, i’m still going to call him cheeky.
love the perspective in that first photo, the way the riders arc across the frame, and echo the arch thingy in the background. pretty sweet.
check the gallery thingy
there were a couple others like that one – but that was definitely the money shot right there. beauty.
thank you. Well, I use Lightroom to do batch post processing on the photos
But I typically don’t do that much post on them , just not enough time. Generally, it’s just adjusting the blacks and some cropping if needed. Some photos do intrigue me so I spend more time on different settings for a few of them.
The light on Sunday was really good, not flat like most of the week.
it looked like
it was just overcast enough for good saturatin’ not overcast enough to be dark. i really liked this set.
Great shots Lynn
I did not get any from that last stage as I was in a pretty hot double corner and too far from the finish to get there in time. It was nice to meet you and Nikki.

wow.
Lyne – That first photo is awesome. (All are fabulous, of course, but that first one just made me think, “wow”.) You couldn’t have lined them up more perfectly in line and by team kit colors.
Thanks for sharing!
