What of Euser?

Has anyone else been following this boy?

He seemed to be flailing a bit when he got knocked off the Giro team at the last minute because of his seeming lack of TT ability.

Did the Tour of Portugal bring something out of him? I'm interested to find out if Vaughters is willing to give him another year.

Today's result bodes well for his future, but I wonder if it didn't have something to do with the reletive short distance of the race.

Bonne chance Lucas

I don't know a lot about him

but he’s a pretty solid rider and seems to be really dependable in the races. He writes from time to time on Garmin’s site and has a pretty good sense of humor which is probably why I’ve found him so easy to follow.

two years

Most of the roster on Team Garmin had two years contracts at the beginning of this year. I’m fairly certain that Euser is still on the team for next year, along with all the other kids you know.

That's what I remember too

he should be fine for next year.

After that…. hmm. It depends on how the rest of the team develops. Are they gonna be a top flight contender in Europe? Or will they be content for a rung below that. Remains to be seen. Might depend on what kind of money the sponsors put into them.

I raced against Lucas...

when he was a junior, and I was not. You can find his name sprinkled around the results on NCNCA.org in 2001-2002. I didn’t know who he was at the time. I’m not really sure how old he was either, although it wouldn’t be hard to deduce. He raced with us in the 3’s and 4’s . He was good but not so good that he was high on my radar screen.

Here’s one from 3’s

Here’s one where Cozza finished right ahead of me.

No, but I knew...

…Devon Vigus, Dave Loogman and Clint Gaver. Those were the stars of the races I rode back then. Geez, this is descending into a Bruce Springstien song. I’m gonna go gargle some draino as penance.

Never, ever, work with a sprinter.
