Vuelta Stage 5: Royal City ITT Preview

Sorry, should've mentioned it's a travel day today. Big stage manana... who do you like? This is about the only chance the power chronomen have to make their mark on this race, before getting crushed in the mountains. Should be fun.
UPDATE: Some info: it's an out-and-back 42km circuit. Board flat. Famous for winds, but even they aren't expected to matter (5-10mph is what forecasters say when they don't think there'll be much wind). Then there are the crashes -- see the live thread, but initial fave Stef Schumacher is apparently hurting, and Klodi lost time mysteriously. Smart pick is Levi Leipheimer, perhaps. I'll take a stab: Cunego!!

It's Levi time
Contador said that it’s all flat and straight, for pure specialists. No dangerous turns, not even a small climb to get off the saddle.
Hmm
Schumacher? Did he crash today or just have a mechanical?
I think Levi’s gonna ace this course. He’s my choice.
Bruseghin? Man this is his third Grand Tour.. does he have anything left?
The Accountant should do well too though I think the final ITT is more suited for him.
Popo? His head seems into this race and if so he could pop a good TT.
Kloden if unhurt should also be top 5. If unhurt I wonder about his mood being down 5 minutes so early in this race. He may put everything into this TT to get back some time.
Rodriguez yes. His teammate Valverde? Who the fuck knows with that guy?
Chavanel has to be considered easily top 10
Gesink is possible as his TT times this year since Cali have been respectable- though like Bert the last TT may be better for him.
Casar could have a decent time though I wouldn’t peg him for top 5. Top 10 maybe.
Kiryenka could slip into the top 10 or maybe his teammate Ignatiev, based on his Giro TT… nah take that back: Top 20.
I’ll go with Levi. Or Klodi if the mood strikes him.
d'oh
I forgot this thingy was going off already. I’m so lagging hard on this race.
Klodie seems like a good pick for a longish, flat crono. Schumacher did in fact crash. His DS wasn’t sure about his ability to continue, actually.
Walking wounded
not sure who’s even up for this.

Did Kloden crash?
That’s my guess, losing four minutes, but I can’t tell from Velonews or Cyclingnews.
How fast will Contador be?
He has put in a great ITT before. He says that he has been training a lot for the discipline. Now, they say he’s the best chrono guy of the mountain men. If he wants to line up with the great men of the sport, he’ll have to do better than that, but maybe not at this race. (I hope he does)
Kloden
Yeah, the Astana race recap said that Kloden flatted before the 3 KM mark so the race officials refused to adjust his time even though he got stuck behind the crash,
that was a strange ruling by the UCI....
Had it been Sastre, Contador or Valverde stalled by the crash, the ruling would probably look a bit different……
is there discretion?
I thought it was 3 km period
