Tour of Mizzou Stage 2... LIVE!
Looks like the racing is underway, with Universal Sports live coverage kicking off NOW! it's a long, flat run-in to Springfield today, meaning Mark Cavendish will be looking to add to his long, long resume of sprint wins for the season. Enjoy!
update: Um, it says 2.25pm EDT, but when you open the link, it says there's another 3 hours to go... as in 2.25 Pacific. Nice.
update: it's on!

yup, it's on now
…and I can see it…?
I guess they must of unlocked the front door to Canadians.

Nothing to do with course
But just want to mention that Reus is back in action again here. He fell, during a training due the TdF 2007, in a 3 week coma. His first race since then. Finished in the first race i the peleton without trouble
Some say the best things in life, are one the inside.
Good God
Ok this works in the UK. For that I am grateful. And I understand that the US is not a major cycling nation and you need to have a clever commentator-dumb commentator pair. But when dumb commentator starts asking questions about opening mayo sachets to spread on your lunchtime sarnie, then even the dumbest newbie must feel a bit patronised.
rename?
Can we rename them to Universal Spoilers? Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!

p.s.: I even know better…
buzz up
What does this do? I clicked on it and got a not very helpful message:
Thanks for visiting Yahoo! Buzz™
For some reason, that story doesn’t seem to be in our system. We’re already on the case, trying to figure out what went wrong
try it now?
I wonder, do I have to nominate my own posts first?? Very awkward…

Exactly the same
I even read the story about Colonel Saunders then tried again.
Sombody has to buzz it up
whether it be the story author or another, but the person who buzzes it up first has to have and be signed into their Yahoo account. I just buzzed Gav’s post on Bobby Julich.

So...
break coming down slowly? Can’t imagine Columbia not pinning this one back.
The video player looks fab. I’m on mute, at work and all.

Dangerous move
I just logged out and now the tour tracker page tells me
Sorry! The Tour Tracker servers are at their maximum of 100,000 viewers! Try again later?
Which is sort of heartening in a way. Now to try Universal.
the 5-man break still have a decent gap

I think 2 riders have attacked
Andreas Schillinger (Team Sparkasse)
Mike Sayers (BMC)
but the picture break-up is too much for me to tell what’s really going on to be sure.

The break-up is odd
I don’t seem to be losing any coverage, but time just seems to be slowing down at one end of the wire. I wonder how many of those watching have the same picture?

“not used to racing Mark Cavendish” ??
Is that the chap in yellow
I am just getting a slide-show here, so it’s luck if I can ID anyone.
Are you the online commentator guy?

Graphics?
they wouldn’t let me in to that site. I just got a different still shot every 20s with the odd few seconds of motion, plus very broken up commentary. Thanks for the updates that helped hold it together. I really can’t believe that most of you guys mess around like that for every race.
I don't mess around
if it’s too screwed up… I just walk away before I lose my temper.
this time around the problem was on my end, my iMac is just too damned old to watch video with, so once I switch to my Vista laptop my problems were over.
live to ride, ride to live
Dammit!
Didn’t get back in time. Well done Cav. kind of easy pickings though.

OK
I’ll have to see it with my own eyes. Not a slam; just saying, this was the guy and the team that OWNED the Tour sprints.

they're cohesive,
that whole team won the sprint — just take a look at the way Michael Barry rode, he was riding on the drops, with a flat back for most of the stage….
live to ride, ride to live
Saw some of Barry
That’s pretty much cycling in a nutshell: hammering away endlessly, with power and good form, in service of team strategy (which currently works about 100% of the time). This is why great sprinters are golden. Imagine working like Barry for a guy who keeps missing the openings.

Tee hee hee... hey Chris I hope you saw some of Barry today!
He was so adorable up on the podium today after winning the stage.
(Totally missed this thread the other day.)
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Agreed, the teamwork is good
it is impressive to see Columbia riding if they reckon that Cavendish has a half decent chance of a victory. I reckon that their best was that Giro stage into Locarno when they got together so well that Cav didn’t even need to bother to sprint.
the only bitch I have with US racing
is the measurement of distance in miles.

Indeed!
Who knew that we’d be confused by that?
