TDU on Cycling TV
The Tour Down Under kicks off this weekend which we're pretty excited about! Here's all the details you need to watch online with Cycling TV...
[Chris here...] This is probably a good place to point out that we will have live threads open for every stage, including the first live thread of 2009 (for the road, that is) during Sunday's race.
The Tour Down Under marks the beginning of the professional road cycling season and this year has caused quite a stir with the shock entrance of Lance Armstrong, who will make his come-back appearance in Australia. Coming at a time when a solid preparation for the early season races is essential for riders hoping to take a classic win or the Pro Tour competition leader’s jersey, the race is ideal training for the sport’s big names with its high level of racing and very professional organisation. Lance has definitely stolen the spotlight ahead of the 2009 edition but we mustn’t forget the other big-name stars who have graced this typically sun-drenched course over the years including Robbie McEwen and Stuart O’Grady, never failing to put on a spectacular show.
Half a million Australian spectators turned out last year for the rare opportunity to see their favourite stars up close on their home continent. With a wide variety of other events to interest fans, the region has embraced the race as a Festival of Cycling like no other and the Tour Down Under is always a fantastic one for the spectators, which is why we’re so excited about bringing you all the daily action.

Have you been keeping up with your drinks Rebecca?
You know it’s been a long offseason so we’ll be ready to go!!!

Hey!
How are you guys? Looking forward to the racing getting into full swing – been really enjoying the cross season this winter to fill the void!
You’re right Nikki, It’s been a while! Back onto the caffiene fueled race banter nxt week ay!
we enjoyed ourselves a wee bit (ok, not really, it was six days after all)
of Live Six Day racing at the new year. That was fun too.
That six day was QUALITY!
I was so on the edge of my seat during that last madison….before I had to stand up of course ;-)
Totally agree. The 6-days, especially that last madison was awesome.

Live video in the US?
Every day we’ll have a full highlights package for you to enjoy at your leisure, and we’ll be joining the final hour of the race LIVE.
I was so excited.
Live is available worldwide except to customers in UK, US, France, Australia, and Denmark.
and then I was sad.
Anyone know if those of us in the US will get the live video of that last hour? Obviously the feed is going to be available if CTV has it.
live final stage coverage in us at versus website

Isn't this
in the middle of the night, west coast time?

No. It will be in the late afternoon for me. They are 18.5 hrs ahead so take a day away
and they are 5.5 hours behind us. So a 11am start will be a 4:30pm here. And a prime time finish time. The last stage will be live on Versus.Com at 7pm on next Saturday for us.
Someone correct if I am wrong but this is how I figured it out. If you go to the TDU page on Cycling Fever they have a clock on the top of the page with Adelaide time. Its 1:46pm there right now and it is 7:26pm US Pacific Time.

That makes more sense
It is 2:03 PM on Saturday in Adelaide, which is +9:30 GMT, while we here on the west coast of North America are at -8:00 GMT… And the fact that they are half an hour off from the rest of the world is further proof that the Aussies just don’t give a fuck what other people think….
O we give a fuck what other people think
But we just don’t do anything about it :-))

Ignorant question here: anyone know if the big Tour will be streamed live this year and by whom? Looks like Premium package covers almost everything but…
Kids like Kix for what Kix has got, Moms love Kix for what Kix has not.
You mean the Tour de France?
In the US the Versus Channel shows it live and then replays it all day and then has an extended show in the evenings. Everyday. That’s been the schedule for the past few years.

I don't know who to blame here,
but this is not a good start for CTV…..
If highlights were so hard to figure out, wonder how the live coverage will be like?
