Schedule of Quick Step Captains

Feltet.dk has posted a list of what races Tom Boonen, Stijn Devolder, Carlos Barredo, Sylvain Chavanel and Wouter Weylandt will do this spring.

Pretty interesting  to note that Barredo is apparently given a chance to ride for himself.  Of course this is by default after the whole Bettini/Schumacher debacle but it will be interesting to see if the power he has shown these last seasons in service of others can be turned into some personal results.

A bit of a questionmark is whether Devolder and Weylandt will actually follow this schedule following their injuries.

I think that position on QS is sort of enviable

Look at the results Pippo and Devolder have from that position in the past. Being the early attacker on QS sometimes result in other teams chasing you down and towing Boonen to the line and sometimes it leads to standstill in the chase. I’d say that as long as QS don’t harness everyone else in favour of Boonen , being Plan B(or C) on QS is a golden oppportunity.

Gold!

Thanks Jens. I find the Barredo schedule most interesting.

Wait now. You should use this info for good

not use it to refine your evil plans of Total VDS Domination.

Good for Barredo

I think Carlos Barredo is a good man to watch, and more responsibility will bring good things. He’s one of that really talented clan from former Liberty Seguros, which included Allan Davis, Sergio Paulinho, and of course Contador. Liberty was a huge repository of talent that hit the bricks with the unfortunate story of 2006.

A lot of interesting things have happened to those guys, some successful in the races, some out of work, and some—pity—in court. Somebody should write a book.

Good luck to Carlos.

Is Devolder back on the bike yet?

Last I saw, he was off for a few weeks with a knee injury.
