St. Louis start

Excellent news that they are starting in St. Louis, as this will really boost the attendance/exposure of the Gateway Cup, which is a series of bike races that run Friday through Sunday.

YEAH!!

Finish here in town is awesome. I am looking forward to it again this year.

We'll have to chat in a couple weeks.

Sounded like so much fun, very interested in checking out some more details on it. :-)

uh oh

general westerly direction: does this mean they’ll have a headwind the entire week?

hopefully yes!

You should rewrite your challenge this year

in terms of hours per mph of headwind. 1 hour into a 30mph wind is equal to 3 hours into a 10mph wind. Calm days and tailwinds score nothing.

Race needed climbs

Other than that brutal TT course, the course wasn’t selective enough. I swear some of the KOMs were downhill…really.
Heck, a sprinter won the climbers jersey last year.
But that course in Branson will be missed by the photogs. It was visually stunning.
The racers won’t miss it though. It was sooo hilly, long hard grades that were impossible to TT, you know, that certain shade of steep that you just can’t find a rhythm or, alternately, power over. A true strongman’s course.

More hills are better for sure for selection.

And I agree I think the couple KOM’s were a bit, ummm, disappointing? Dominique Rollin was great up on stage though! Not sure the sponsor of that jersey could’ve asked for anyone better. :-) I think we stopped at a couple of them and actually watched earlier than the KOM line as the inclines getting there were a little better but nothing screamed hills like the TT.

The TT

this year should be a fairly flat one from the looks of it.

Just saw Hamiliton was on the front of the link

too bad he probably wont have a team in September.

A frozen 'cross ride from this last weekend. As you may be aware we have had siberian conditions here in the UK with a low of -14 degrees centigrade here on saturday morning. It was a beautiful sunny morning so i layered up and set off for a snowy 'cross ride along a roman road. I checked the thermometer when i got back to find it had been -10 throughout the ride! I had a lot of fun though and the views were spectacular.
