Teams for Milano-San Remo, Tirreno-Adriatico
I've received an email from the RCS press office, listing the preliminary selection of teams for Milano-San Remo and Tirreno-Adriatico.
Each of these races will have a maximum field of 25 eight-man teams. RCS has made an initial selection of 21 teams for Tirreno-Adriatico and 22 teams for Milano-San Remo.

Yep, Gatto, lots of pics of him sunning himself in Argentina lately.
And Visconti.

Hasn't Bartoli signed for them as well
or so was the rumor, I don’t think it’s official yet.

no, hasn't happened yet
he actually said there was a 0% chance he would ride for them a few weeks back.

Yeah but I heard just a few days later that it was close to happening
so who knows, seeing it’s the year of the comeback I think he wont be able to resist.

right
But I think the press reports got a bit crossed up there, in the sense that his denial didn’t get picked up by all that many places, so the original rumor lived on. Zombie story. Certainly, there hasn’t been anything further about it in the Italian press.

Pretty much the same as the Giro
with FdJ added both times and the Euskies invited to MSR. I thought that they were both ProTour races, but no, they’re on the historic calender. I wonder now why Cofidis paid up to stay in the PT.

Barloworld?
They aren’t here. Anyone hear of their invitation prospects for other races?

Article about it at CW
RCS Sport event director Angelo Zomegnan told Cycling Weekly that he has not closed the door on Team Barloworld, saying the team could still be invited to the Giro d’Italia and the other races because there are still two places to be assigned for the Giro, four for Tirreno-Adriatico and three for Milan-San Remo.
Barloworld team manager Claudio Corti is said to be “hopeful” of inclusion.

Fuji?????
I guess they are getting the Astana treatment….
by Crazy D on Jan 28, 2009 6:46 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Seems like it
the thing about the Astana thing is that now every time this happens to a team, the big organizers sort of have to not invite them or else they would be seen as hypocrites, even if that team has done all it can to clean its image. Although Fuji hasn’t done all it can, Fanini is still there.

Just wanted to say thanks Tifosa for all the RCS info
March is coming quickly, just one month exactly until Het Volk now. Also, the P-N route is going to be announced tomorrow at 11:30 Paris time, and the T-A route should be announced in the next several weeks.

you're welcome :-)
This is the first time I’ve gotten an email with a press release from RCS, so I was pretty excited about it.
The Paris-Nice route is always an interesting one to see, since they vary the amount of climbing from year to year. RCS has already announced that Tirreno-Adriatico will start in Tuscany this year (to honor Paolo Bettini), so that could be an interesting route, as well.

Yeah and they have a new advertising campaign with a poster
were the top Italian riders are riding in the ocean, I see the reference of the two seas but I rather have the riders riding on roads. But they are trying to make it a bigger event and making it more challenging is a good start, so it might be more difficult this year.

CTT invited
Cervelo Test Team will be invited everywhere, of course, and that makes me happy.
