Yes
Apart from the obligatory Col d’Eze on the final day, stage 6 will have a mountaintop finish on Montagne de Lure. ASO call this Ventoux’s little sister, at 13.8 km 6,6% avg. It has never been used in a bikerace before according to letour.fr .
Seems like a suitably tough climb for P-N.

I never knew that's where Vichy was...

I am actually quite good at my world cities...I can sit for hours reading an atlas
but for some reason I thought Vichy was further south-woops! But I am a history graduate and I know a little about Vichy in that context, but more of an early-modern person on that front!

well
The way history is taught, it does imply that Vichy is well into the South of France. You know, the Nazis divided the country, directly occupying the north along the coast, blah blah.
Really, what matters is you know the significance of the place. Otherwise, that’s what maps were invented for. And bike races :-P

Oh the bike races are very much more important to me these days....
….I stopped doing the Nazis before university! Cycling, so educational, I mean, I now know where Burgos is, which I didn’t before, and my Belgian geography is unsurpased.

I was hoping last years KOM
would get Vacansoleil a place in Paric-Nice. Apparently L’Hotellerie lost his charm since the last edition.

With so many new/smaller teams
I think a lot of them are going to find it tough to get in many races.

They sure need quick results
to carve a name for themselves.

Am I not seeing Rebellin’s new team?

now we have a P-N 2 years in a row
without the defending Champ….
Not cool.
by Bruce Suomi on Jan 29, 2009 4:10 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Why not..
Pretend that Contador is the defending champ? Its not like he lost it on the road.
That way T-A can be said to have two defending champs.
by ursula on Jan 29, 2009 4:28 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Does that mean that I should think Lance and Bert are also still defending champs of Le Tour
cause that could get confusing, 3 defending champs at one race.

Cervelo is practically taking over the PT spot from Fuji
they are getting in every event they want to and Fuji is getting Astanad, good move Marchante! Fun route as always, I love that they are going up a mountain right next to Ventoux, what a great tease for the Tour and a great stage. No Rebellin isn’t surprising, he’ll go do T-A instead most likely.
