The Official 2009 Back Pocket Season Preview

Over the winter months I have been putting out team previews for 2009, one at a time and as quickly as circumstances and brainpower allow. Taken together, these previews will resemble something like the overpriced paper mag you can buy at your LBS, only without the screaming, cliche'd "he's baaaaack" headline about Lance. And, of course, the PdC preview is available for the low, low price of... bubkis.

This page will be lodged in the features section until staleness sets in (or May 1, whichever is later), and dredged up in November for accountability purposes. Each team for which you see a link (purple-ish lettering) has a stand-alone Back Pocket Preview. At some point they all will. List of teams and links... on the flip!

Is that the order in which you'll be rolling 'em out?

I was kinda jonesing for a Cd’E preview this week.

While you're waiting...

Have you seen Caisse d’Epargne’s newly-updated website?

Google is my domestique.

Wow, that confirms all my stereotypes

In the box at the top where you can choose language you can choose french…………and french only. It’s stuff like that the rest of the world find so endearing about the french.

Despite the language thing, which is bizarre considering they're really a Spanish team,

I think it’s better than the last one where you had to sit through countless moving graphics pretending you were cycling along a road, which always jammed my computer up good and proper! You know, it took me a ludacrous amount of time to realise that the Caisse logo is supposed to be a squirrel….the little squirrels on the site kinda drop you a hint, but it still looks more like random lines…

Whoa!

It IS a squirrel. Well, how bout that… I never noticed that before.
And, not surprisingly, I have no idea if it has anything to do with a Caisse d’Epargne.

Now that I've looked at the site, you can see sort of see it

but what the hell is that all about?!?!?!?

From the Larousse Dictionannaire Compact
écureuil nm squirrel; l’Écureuil nickname for the Caisse d’Épargne (whose logo is a squirrel).

Maybe because you squirrel money away in a bank?

A frozen 'cross ride from this last weekend. As you may be aware we have had siberian conditions here in the UK with a low of -14 degrees centigrade here on saturday morning. It was a beautiful sunny morning so i layered up and set off for a snowy 'cross ride along a roman road. I checked the thermometer when i got back to find it had been -10 throughout the ride! I had a lot of fun though and the views were spectacular.
