Friday O/T for Foodies
Found a site that is a bit of a treasure-chest for those who are interested in food and cooking. The writer/photographer is swiss and something of a cheese-fanatic. Great classic recipes and stories from a lot of exotic, odd and (expensive) culinary trips.
Guaranteed to make you hungry (unless you are a vegetarian and stumble upon the "Moldavian Pig Slaughter" article that is).

The Japanese Knife article is cool
I love that sort of old school craftsmanship. Thanks Jens. I can see myself spending hours digging around in that site…
The chase is better than the catch...
Guaranteed
to cost me my day job. Must… look… away (until tonight).
Oh, and please tell me that Sakai knife factory has samurai swordsmith origins…

Well even if it doesn't I'm sure the marketing department that sells the knife will tell you it does
To some extent the craftsmanship tradition all dates back to the swordsmith tradition so he wouldn’t be lying .
The knifearticle was actually how I stumbled upon the site. I’m sort of enamoured after getting my latest baby:

The brand is Hattori, yes
but I think the Hanzo part is from the movie. I don’t think it has anything to do with this knifemaker.
I spent the night with a guy
for a nice set of knives once.
Sometimes I wonder...why is that Frisbee getting bigger?...and then it hits me.
I said
NICE knives Jimbo. Not the Ginzu set.
Sometimes I wonder...why is that Frisbee getting bigger?...and then it hits me.
That is what they say
The “factories” are all little shops attached to the knife smith’s houses. They make the blade in one shop, make the handle in another, sharpen it in another, engrave it in another…
The chase is better than the catch...
Amazing
Really nice stuff rocks. I guess I don’t have to tell cyclists that.
