Notice how the early action music is lame?

Yesterday we had " Bay City Rollers" at one point.

If you don’t know who they are it’s best to stay ignorant.

On a side note

Don’t worry about the economy.Collapse of our current monetary system is a mathematical certainty. There’s nothing you can do to stop it short of an uprising,so enjoy the racing

It must be great to speak Dutch

Barely anyone else does and English is pretty much 100% spoken. So it’s like Navajo in WWII.Except the enemy occupies your nation.

Cute, but you’re not missing much, conversationally, based on the 15% that’s slow enough for me to decipher.

some are intense. Pretty crazy in a tight press with no brakes… don’t know how fast the guy next to you will suddenly be going, nor it what trajectory.

Daddy Cool

wow, stroetinga-pollack, great sling, great effort. Next team not gonna do it—bad hand off—but the rabo boys are pretty fast in the legs.

Will Decker find his groove without others on the course? Not today. Fear of the hand-off. Lots of telegraphing before it happens, not much zing.

But yeah…wish they had a few more cameras. Heck, though, it’s free.

What a good idea.

I’ll head to the supermarket to get in the supplies :-)

by Albertina on Jan 4, 2009 11:49 AM EST up reply actions

I watched the last two events reading through comments.

I will be much better tomorrow. Plus I’ll be at work so having it streaming while sitting at the desk is awesome. Trying to do things around the house, not as easy. :-)

I missed all the action

the show sounded like it was brilliant, looks like the last three days are all night session, much better. Yo, Nikki, can I sit now?

Ok, that's good

I have a full 24 hours to recover before a lot of standing the next three days. The comp started at 4:30 here this morning, so I slept while standing for the last 4 hours, didn’t want to disrespect any champions you know.

Awesome.

Yeah, that started a little too early for me. It’s not like the classics where I get up at 4 am with coffee in hand.
I slept in, worked out, and then signed on . They were on the last couple events by the time I took a look.

But no fear. Tomorrow through Wed should be good.

by nikki on Jan 4, 2009 12:04 PM EST up reply actions

Hey Phil....

I found a song they could use for the stand off if we are blessed with another one. Whatcha think?

"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."

by nikki on Jan 4, 2009 10:31 PM EST reply actions

Yes, that would work real well

btw, did you know that the same guy who did stand up also did this instant classic

by Phil H. on Jan 4, 2009 11:03 PM EST up reply actions

Oh god, I had forgotten about that one.

The hair gel guys could so use that for their intro. ha ha!

"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."

by nikki on Jan 5, 2009 10:13 AM EST up reply actions

I have no real idea on why I find that so impressive

but I really do. So, is the idea to force the other guy to go before you so you have the advantage of being in his slipstream and then passing him at the very end?

"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."

by nikki on Jan 5, 2009 10:12 AM EST up reply actions

Major Taylor famous for actually backing up

to force the other guy to the front.
Yeah, the guy who goes first generally loses, unless he catches the other guy napping.

by JFS_PGH on Jan 5, 2009 11:18 PM EST up reply actions

In a talk earlier today I found out that

that is pretty exhausting to do. These guys aren’t the smallest of riders and built for the speed on the track. To hold the position takes a lot out of them. I think I was told the record is like 15 minutes and with that, a time limit of 15 minutes or so has been set for some of the big track races. In all cases, I find it fun to watch. :-)

"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."

by nikki on Jan 5, 2009 11:30 PM EST up reply actions

So funny girl. You really do have that one stuck in your head don't ya!

I am hoping to be here this afternoon for the fun but work might interfere a bit. Everyone under the sun is back to work today so there won’t be any cranked speakers today I’m afraid but having it up and the video streaming shouldn’t be bad. :-)

"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."

by nikki on Jan 5, 2009 10:28 AM EST up reply actions

We can give you a running commentary on the music if you like ;-)

I don’t think I’ll be around for all of it I’m afraid…
