Yay!
Almost time to start standing up. Here’s today’s schedule in English, if anybody wants it.
First hour is youngsters’ madison and women’s points race—elites begin at 19:15 local/1:15 EST.
Google is my domestique.
Questions...
I have “a friend” to ask some questions to. Let me know which ones we have that we need to ask and I will make the call. I’ve already got the “what the heck is the derny race about” question out there.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
lol
I think you need to convince your “friend” to log in and join the party :-)
I’m off for a while, but I’ll check in lates!
If you only knew (well okay you probably do) how funny that concept would be. ha ha ha!
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Yo homies, I'm here and I'm ready to stand again
unfortunately I have to leave a few hours before the finish, and I’ll have to miss the show :( At least there is one more show tomorrow I can enjoy.

Hi gang!
I’m here today, but may not comment much.
It’s really hard to get back to real work after the holidays and this isn’t helping one bit! ;-)
Poor boy isn't used to those madison exchanges
The first tests the fragile Dekker had the feeling that his arm was ripped off. *
I was going to stick around for the thread, but now I have an overwhelming urge to fly to Rotterdam with some cookies.
*From the Google translation of this. Then again, Translate being what it is, the original could say that he rather likes marmots. After all, it also contains such gems as “His marriage to the Rabo team ran last summer with a hard slap on the cliffs, but the new dress is it like a glove.” But one gets the gist. At least sort of.
Google is my domestique.
Women's elimination now?
it’s down as points race for some reason
There are some women's 4 Day racing events listed.
I didn’t see the early part of yesterday so I missed them starting.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
I pulled up
The event schedule in English for us tonight – HERE.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Total crap.
Very bad… as I think I even clicked on that to get it earlier this moring. Very bad. Sorry.
You so take care of us and then I post it again. It’s this damn work interference thing. :-)
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Work. It does interfere with the important things in life, doesn't it?
Or it would if I would actually turn off the damn racing and get back to it.
Google is my domestique.
Let the party begin

Sweetness.
I miss my speakers being cranked though. It helped stay on top of it.
I had them up and one of the guys teased me about watching football on youtube.
I have now turned them way down.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
it's the spectacle of the 6 days.
Everyone should see this, it’s my first 6 day watching and loving it.
Or tell them it's day 7
really throw them off
"If you go (with a break), you can either win or not win. If you don't go for it, you definitely won't win."
~ Jens Voigt
haha, anyway hows it football
with a dutch guy speaking over it all.
He sounds just like John Madden
"If you go (with a break), you can either win or not win. If you don't go for it, you definitely won't win."
~ Jens Voigt
They're used to different languages over here
(it’s awesome during the Giro when ctv cuts out and I switch to another link). So that doesn’t get them too often. Hearing football music though has them wondering whats up. Can’t wait for them to hear Stand Up. The announcer with the low volume just sounds like an stadium announcer with some echo. So they can’t tell very well it’s not english. (This was all so much easier Friday/Saturday when they were all gone.)
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
I just told the one guy that it is a really important
race this afternoon. Day seven of the huge 6day racing in Rotterdamn. He almost asked but just walked away looking puzzled. :-) Thanks!
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Haha, well done
that will shut them up for a while, during Flanders you can tell them it is day 2 of one of the most important one day races in the world
"If you go (with a break), you can either win or not win. If you don't go for it, you definitely won't win."
~ Jens Voigt
Wait, I've got it!
Borrow from this creatively-translated photo caption from Google Translate (same article I linked above):
Former Rabo-rider Thomas Dekker is in the shirt of his new team during the Six gas Silence of Rotterdam.
So just tell them it’s the Six gas Silence of Rotterdam. They’ll spend all day trying to figure that out.
Google is my domestique.
That must be their new sponsor
Team Six gas Silence-Lotto
"If you go (with a break), you can either win or not win. If you don't go for it, you definitely won't win."
~ Jens Voigt
Just curious
but isn’t “Right said Fred” too sexy to have his song played at the 6 day.
"If you go (with a break), you can either win or not win. If you don't go for it, you definitely won't win."
~ Jens Voigt
If he's too sexy for his own song then I'm sure he is too sexy for it to be played a a 6 day race
"If you go (with a break), you can either win or not win. If you don't go for it, you definitely won't win."

I always thought that walking on sunshine would really hurt
"If you go (with a break), you can either win or not win. If you don't go for it, you definitely won't win."

Even harder to pedal
these guys are tough

Color me a n00b. Right now it looks like maybe video replay?
It doesn’t look live. Or is that fancy lights and music how they do it?
They won that event.
There will be many more, and a running total is kept of the overall rankings.
Google is my domestique.
Not sure it's up right now.
These were the standings after yesterday, with points and how many laps behind teams were:
1. Peter Schep-Joan Llaneras 131 punten

Were the hell did Marianne Vos come from

Oh I stood
I just had no idea she was in this race

Wait a sec.
Why don’t the women champions get hot podium guys to give them kisses?
Google is my domestique.
I mean, unless they'd prefer the girls.
But at least it would be nice to know they got a choice.
Google is my domestique.
I am not standing for that guy
what was that supposed to be? Did they do that just to piss Dekker off?
"If you go (with a break), you can either win or not win. If you don't go for it, you definitely won't win."
~ Jens Voigt
Morning all!
Have coffee, have disco lights, have the theme from starwars… urgh. Better drink that coffee, I think…
i think we will forget about the schedule
they don’t seem to be following it
Google is my domestique today as well
ZoeRochelle <—— Currently reading up on this Six Day Racing spectacle at CyclingNews.
Lampater and Marvulli just got a bonus lap?
means they are leading now
"If you go (with a break), you can either win or not win. If you don't go for it, you definitely won't win."
~ Jens Voigt
According to the article ZoeRochelle pulled up
100 points count for one lap, and they’re at 200 points right now, so I think they got another lap for that?

Just reading about that
He crashed into Dimitri De Fauw, who is racing at Rotterdam now partnered with Bas Giling. Story here.

Update notes on the Derny.
I was on the phone during the last couple events and think I got some good info for us.
The derny is hard as hell and gut wrenching is what I got told. It’s all about the derny driver. And yes, the bigger they are, the better. They are breaking the wind for the riders behind them so the bigger they are, the better the draft. The riders and drivers are assigned before the event so it’s no surprise and not usually random. The drivers want to win, as they specialize in this. The riders have to stay with the derny. If they lose contact, they lose the draft they were working with and are basically screwed with getting back on at speeds. Just like top cyclists, there is prestige with being a top well known Derney driver.
The drivers and riders do talk to each other. That’s the funny ass cup thingys we see on the drivers ears. They’re like backwards cups so they can hear the rider behind him. The rider usually will yell up/down, go go, type stuff. The dangerous parts come in when they are more than say 2 abreast on the turns. More so than fume issues (which at least back in the day, weren’t bad), the riders have to worry about things like blown tires. Remember, no brakes for the riders, so if some type of mechanical happens, holy shit, watch out. Because of the drafting of the derny drivers, the riders tend to be going faster than say if they were sprinting on their own.
Object is to win with the Derney driver. The riders are pretty much part of the show but need to keep contact. I didn’t completely ask if there were penalities or such but it is truly harder on the rider if he loses contact with the derny as the draft is gone.
It’s a serious race and part of the show and hard as hell from the speeds and danger of it. Hope this helps.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
I can easily listen to my friend for hours on this stuff
so if we have some more questions over the next day or so, I’d be happy to get some more info.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
I'll be appreciating it, but sorry, I'll still be doing some giggling.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Awesome recap Nikki
and doesn’t that just want to make you a derny driver even more now? I totally want to work my way up the derny ranks
"If you go (with a break), you can either win or not win. If you don't go for it, you definitely won't win."

Absolutely.
My friend had one of the best as his drivers and let’s just say laughing was had when goals were discussed. ha ha!
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Greetings all!
I’m just itching to stand up but I know I musn’t until the appointed moment :-)
What’s going on? These are women, no?
Love the change in music!
Woo hoo. A little bit of Lou Bega! Gotta love it!
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
A very little advantage of being at work.
Solid connection at high speed.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
advantage for being home
I am eating yummy cherry pie with some fresh coffee, so the buffering doesn’t frustrate me that much, plus audio is all I need really

Oooooh, I like Andy Capp's Cheese fry thingys.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Advantage Phil.
Yes, the audio certainly added to the entertainment last week so having it kept low today is taking some of the fun out.
BUT – don’t miss the clear as day – STAND UP!!!
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
How do you pronounce Colclough?
Does it rhyme with though, enough, plough, cough, or something else entirely?

This is the keirin now?
Confused with the schedule a bit today.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Oh, very gutsy you are

For kicks, I’ll cheer for Bos!

So close.
I think it was Hoy and then Bos though so you’re out.
Levy was kickin’ some butt Saturday though.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
He's still young I think
of course so is Bos and Kenny
"If you go (with a break), you can either win or not win. If you don't go for it, you definitely won't win."

My friend and I were talking about Risi
and a few others. Some comments about them being old were made and I just smiled. A couple of them are only in like their mid 30’s so old to cycling, but certainly not life.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Better than gymnastics

You can admit your Santa, it's okay. We won't tell anyone. :-)
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Pffft, look at that Keirin driver, thinking he's all bad ass
derny drivers would so take them down anytime

Could you see the drivers all going at it in some kind of sprint?

I'm standing for Sir Chris
I feel like I’ve done this a few times before

But I’m a kind fella, I’ll hold back so I won’t spoil your party… :D
Btw, thanks for the nice gifts this year Santa

Back in the day (like when Merckx rode) they would get up to 4 deep in the corners.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Ha, Axel Merckx maybe
"If you go (with a break), you can either win or not win. If you don't go for it, you definitely won't win."
~ Jens Voigt
It is not. I would never hang up if I had that pleasure.
Not that I don’t totally treasure my friendship with said friend.
But my friend did race 6 days with him. ha ha.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Isn't it almost annoying that Merckx also won 17 6-day races
"If you go (with a break), you can either win or not win. If you don't go for it, you definitely won't win."
~ Jens Voigt
I think that add's to his Champion of Champions status.
He truly rode it all and rode it all kicking other’s arses.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
On wiki it says he won 11
"If you go (with a break), you can either win or not win. If you don't go for it, you definitely won't win."

It looks like on his Wiki page, maybe 11?
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Seriously, I want to check out the cup over the ear thingys.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Off to work now
Buggrit.
I shall attempt to spend the first three hours standing at my desk, in honour of any champions… ah, my boss already knows that I’m weird…
There is nothing weird about standing for the champions
if your boss doesn’t get that then he probably shouldn’t be a boss

I stand!

+1 (assuming we are both talking about the rider - although the driver was cute in his own way)
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
I'm guessing you mean the derny driver
because he is the real winner
"If you go (with a break), you can either win or not win. If you don't go for it, you definitely won't win."
~ Jens Voigt
Did that Derney driver just do a running mount like in Cross?
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Anyone notice that the list of videos on the left of the live video page
already has the Hoy race we watched about 20 min ago up. Webmaster is on the ball.
Was that Dekker up and out of the saddle that I just saw?
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Practicing for the Ardennes
Cunego and Valverde are quick in those sprints you know
"If you go (with a break), you can either win or not win. If you don't go for it, you definitely won't win."

Black shorts = Dekker
Blue shorts = Mouris. Plus, Dekker’s hair hangs out the back of his helmet. So it’s Dekker on the track right now.
Google is my domestique.
Finally I can stand for Dekker
"If you go (with a break), you can either win or not win. If you don't go for it, you definitely won't win."
~ Jens Voigt
Where is Monty?
We needed a screen shot to treasure that moment. Damn.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
He needs to treasure this as his arse
is about to get a butt whoppin’ in the madison. Marvulli’s been doing some serious riding in that event.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Look.
You start talking Dekker’s arse and you’ll have only yourself to blame if I feel obliged to post pictures of it.

Completely unnecessary

No no no.... I'll stop.
We try to keep pics in live threads to just screen shots of the event. I’ll behave. :-P
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Suck on that Rabo!
ok he will have to win on the road a little to really get back at Rabo, but it’s a start

Dekker claims
Silence feels more like a family, as opposed to Rabobank which at the end was all business. Or something like that. Google Translate, you know.
Google is my domestique.
we all saw already with the Chicken how well
the Rabo family works. *Lotto can’t be worse than that team.
Eric calling Menchov shitty during the Tour really was a booster don’t ya think?
Great timing!
I join you guys for 10 minutes and I get to see Thomas Dekker win! I’ll be happy to cheer for him tomorrow evening. I won some tickets so I can go have a look with three of my brothers :-)
Seriously?
That so rocks! Have a great time. Very jealous here for sure!
….I wonder if it’s like big NFL games where fans run down the track nude to get on tv?
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
when the show starts
you should probably leave the building for a about half an hour

Good note.
Yeah, check out the bars and report back! :-)
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Ok sorry I am alittle slow just signed up, but . . . wasn't that win by Dekker due to a serious blocking of the 3rd place rider by the rider in 2nd??
Woo hoo!
We pulled another one out of lurkville. Hi there!
We may need a replay view when they put up the video in the side bar of their site.
I thought he won it fairly but not sure I paid too close attention to 2nd and 3rd.

Hey, we're close okay.
I think we’re going to train together for the derny driver job. :-)

Have we figured out if the Stam and Stam C
are a father son mix? I assume related but I’m curious as to what it is.
"The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed."
Yes
Father and son. Father is a former world champion. The presenter did not mention in what… We’ll have to google it…
I so heart this place with the stuff we're pulling up.

Ok. That was my contribution for tonight. My internet is terribly slow on this site. I’ll try to give you some feedback about my experiences tomorrow later…
I've so got to ask my friend about him. That would be when he was racing.

Some say the best things in life, are one the inside.
I think for all of us.
Even if you watch some track it’s a little confusing as it’s a show with few delays.
I’ve watched a lot of track event via the web, especially the madison, but nothing really compares to this.
Good stuff. Not at all boring.

I love this race, I think just because of how they work the crowds.
Lopex you so have to report back to us on how this is live. If the crowd gets into it like we think they do!

Numpf (means no in cold frozen Canadian) different events different riders, and thanks for the welcome awhile ago ! !
Actually with the 6 days
it’s the same 26 riders for all 6 days split up on the events. Sprint, madison, etc. Maybe not all in the same race as they split up but it’s the same group for sure all day for the whole event.

Ya OK, but . . do the sprint riders ever race the madison and vice-versa in this particular Rotterdam 6 day?
I think in some cases. Not sure how common though.

Actually 26 diders do the madison, other riders do other races - look at the current 26 riders racing the madison now they are not the ones doing the 200m TT and Derny races, right?
There are 13 teams of two riders
Who do a number of different events: madison, derny, elimination races, etc. Then there are the sprinters, who do different events. Check the different start lists:
Elite 6-Day (these are the 2-man teams)
Giant Sprint 6-Day
Masters of Sprint
Google is my domestique.
I know madison guys race the scratch race.
I think it depends, honestly not sure how common it is.

My suggestion:
start a new thread soon. The many comments make the page load slow for those with slower internet connections.
I'll do it, give me like 2-3 minutes before hopping over as it may take that long to come up with 75 words.

Their are 6000 people watching on the site...

Some say the best things in life, are one the inside.
